The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts heavy rainfall and storms across various regions from May 11 to 15. States including Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Gujarat are under alert for thunderstorms, lightning, and hailstorms. The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms across large swaths of the UK on Sunday. Mount Ibu, situated in Indonesia's North Maluku province, erupted, sending a thick column of ash 1.5 kilometers into the sky. The volcano's alert level was raised from two to three, with authorities establishing an exclusion zone of three to five kilometers around the crater. Residents were advised to wear protective gear due to the possibility of falling ash. Indonesia, located on the Pacific "Ring of Fire," frequently experiences seismic and volcanic activity. Last month's eruptions of Mount Ruang prompted evacuations, with ongoing vigilance maintained in affected regions.

Temperatures are set to soar this weekend, with Saturday expected to be the hottest day of the year so far. The Met Office predicts highs of up to 26C in the south of England, beating the current high of 23.4C recorded in Suffolk last Thursday. High pressure will bring dry and settled weather, making for a pleasant and warm weekend. According to Met Office meteorologist Amy Bokota, there is good confidence that the high pressure will last until the weekend, with temperatures building over the next few days and peaking on Saturday.
