Karnataka authorities have cancelled 16 drug licences and suspended eight others after uncovering a fake medicine racket in Bidadi, Bengaluru. The FDA raided a farmhouse on August 18 and found an unlicensed unit repacking cheap medicines as costly imported brands. Drugs, expired medicines, machines and fake labels worth around ₹5.05 crore were seized. Authorities said some products were made to look like premium brands, including Pfizer. The licence of a Pfizer C&F depot has also been suspended. Samples have been sent for testing. A Special Investigation Team is probing the supply chain and identifying others linked to the racket.  

A 34-year-old IndiGo cabin crew member, Kainoor Mistry, died in a road accident in Mumbai on Friday. Mistry was a single mother to a five-year-old child. She was travelling from home to the airport when a car driving on the wrong side of the road crashed into her vehicle. She was seated on the left side of the car. Mistry was placed on ventilator support after the accident but later died. Following the incident, cab operators were warned to follow safety rules. IndiGo has not yet issued an official statement. Police action and further details about the crash are awaited.  

An IIT Bombay faculty member has been booked by Mumbai Police for alleged abetment of suicide and provisions of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act following the death of student Sahil Wakode. Wakode, a second-year student, was found dead in his hostel room on September 19, hours after he was caught using a phone during an examination. His father alleged that Wakode had faced caste-based harassment and mental abuse by faculty. IIT Bombay has denied allegations of caste discrimination and said no disciplinary action was initiated after the examination incident. The investigation has been transferred to the Mumbai Crime Branch. (PC: PTI)

Tata Trusts has challenged the validity of Tata Sons’ September 17 board resolution reappointing N. Chandrasekaran as chairman for another five-year term. The Trusts, which hold about 66% of Tata Sons, said the company’s Articles of Association require affirmative support from a majority of its nominee directors. With two Trust nominees on the board, both would need to support the resolution, but Noel Tata voted against it while Venu Srinivasan supported it. The Trusts also rejected the use of the chairman’s casting vote to overcome this requirement, calling the resolution legally ineffective. The dispute could lead to further legal proceedings. Union Minister S. Jaishankar and his wife, along with former Army chief General Upendra Dwivedi, CBI Director Praveen Sood and other prominent officials, have received notices during Delhi’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Their records were flagged mainly because they could not be linked with the previous 2002 voter rolls or contained discrepancies in names and family details. Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and former Supreme Court judge Ranjana Desai are also among those receiving notices. The Delhi Chief Electoral Officer clarified that receiving a notice does not mean voter eligibility has been cancelled or names will automatically be deleted. (PC: India Today)

Saurav Das, a spokesperson of the CJP, has hailed Gen Z voters after independent candidate Deepanshu Shokeen won the vice-president post in the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) elections 2026, reflecting a changing student mood. The ABVP won three of the four central panel posts. Yash Dabas became president, Riya Chhawdi secretary and Lakshya Raj Singh joint secretary. The NSUI failed to win any of the four seats. Das also noted a split among groups opposing the BJP-linked ABVP, saying the result should not be seen as a simple endorsement of the student body. (PC: HT)

Three people were killed and one was critically injured when a BMW crashed on Mumbai's Coastal Road early Sunday, September 20. It happened around 5.20 am near Lala College and Lotus Jetty, as the car travelled from Marine Drive towards Haji Ali. The driver allegedly lost control, and the car fell off the bridge. All four occupants were rushed to Nair Hospital, where three were declared dead. Police identified two of the dead as Shanay Gajjal, 21, and Dhirya Seth, 17. Police have launched an investigation. The crash comes weeks after a case was filed against several supercars for allegedly racing inside the Coastal Road tunnel. (PC: HT)

A Sikh bus driver was assaulted and forced out of his vehicle in Madeley, Telford, England, on September 18, according to West Mercia Police. The attacker allegedly stole the bus and drove it on the wrong side of the road towards High Street, colliding with several vehicles. Police were called at around 6:37 pm and arrested a man after stopping the bus. NDTV identified the suspect as 33-year-old Yemeni national Ali Balhad; police said he faces multiple charges, including aggravated vehicle taking, assault, dangerous driving and robbery. The driver suffered minor injuries, while no other injuries were reported. 

Three people were killed and another was critically injured after a black BMW crashed off a bridge on Mumbai’s Coastal Road early Sunday, September 20. The accident occurred around 5:20 am as the car was travelling from Marine Drive towards Haji Ali. According to the Coastal Road Control Room, the driver reportedly lost control while speeding, causing the vehicle to fall from the bridge. All four occupants were taken to Nair Hospital, where three were declared dead. The deceased included 21-year-old Shanay Gajjal and a 17-year-old boy; another man, around 25, remained unidentified. Jharkhand-based Naxal commander Brijesh Ganjhu, alias Gopal Singh, was killed in a police encounter in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday morning, September 20. Ganjhu was reportedly the chief of the banned Tritiya Prastuti Committee (TPC) in Jharkhand and carried a total bounty of ₹30 lakh—₹25 lakh from the Jharkhand government and ₹5 lakh from the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Police said he was wanted in several cases. The encounter followed intelligence inputs about his presence in Varanasi. Jharkhand Police confirmed his death after receiving information from the state STF. (PC: X)
