A former senior Tech Mahindra executive, Paramjit Dhankhar, was shot dead by his neighbour in Haryana’s Faridabad following a dispute over vehicle parking and an earlier quarrel involving a pet dog. Dhankhar, who was based in Singapore, had returned to India on November 5 to attend his nephew’s wedding. According to police, the argument began on Friday night after he found his neighbour Monu Sharma’s car parked in his designated space. Sharma allegedly fired around 15 rounds from his licensed pistol, hitting Dhankhar nine times. The accused was arrested on Saturday, and police are investigating the case. (PC: NDTV)

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh extended birthday greetings to veteran BJP leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani on November 8, as he completed 99 years and entered his 100th year. Singh praised Advani's leadership, integrity and lifelong contribution to Indian politics, urging future generations to follow the standards he established. Born on November 8, 1927, in Karachi, Advani played a significant role in the BJP's growth and served as Union Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister under Atal Bihari Vajpayee. A 55-year-old man, identified as Santosh Singh Chauhan, was killed after a speeding Mahindra Thar SUV rammed his electric scooter in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, on November 7. The accident occurred around 7:30 pm in the Kalyanpur area. According to eyewitnesses, two women and a man were inside the SUV, with a woman reportedly driving. The impact dragged the victim and caused the Thar to crash into residential property. The three occupants allegedly abandoned the damaged vehicle and escaped in another car. Police have registered a case and are examining CCTV footage to identify those involved. 

Ayodhya witnessed a spectacular display of lights as more than 30 lakh earthen lamps illuminated its ghats along the Saryu River during the 10th edition of Deepotsav on Saturday. The celebrations featured a grand display at Ram Ki Paidi, with thousands of volunteers helping arrange the lamps. A special drone show involving 2,100 drones depicted scenes from the Ramayana in the night sky. The event also included the Saryu Aarti, cultural performances and laser shows. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday extended Diwali greetings to people across the country, wishing them happiness, peace and prosperity. In a video message shared on social media, he described the festival of lights as a symbol of India's resolve to fight darkness. Modi said the entire country was illuminated for the celebrations and wished citizens a bright and peaceful future. He also confirmed that he would continue his annual tradition of celebrating Diwali with soldiers. Two deer were allegedly killed by suspected poachers in Rajasthan’s Barmer district, triggering protests by villagers demanding the immediate arrest of those responsible. The incident took place on Friday night near Nehron Ki Nadi and Bisarniya villages in the Dhanau police station area. According to villagers, one of the deer was found hanging upside down from a tree with its legs tied. The suspects allegedly fled after villagers were alerted by noises from a nearby cattle enclosure. Villagers staged a sit-in, demanding stronger wildlife protection. The Indian Air Force (IAF) has created aviation history after its Russian-origin IL-76MD transport aircraft, known as ‘Gajraj’, successfully landed at Nyoma airbase in eastern Ladakh at an altitude of 13,629 feet. This marks the highest-ever landing achieved by an IL-76 aircraft anywhere in the world. Located approximately 25 kilometres from the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China, Nyoma holds strategic importance. The four-engine aircraft can carry around 40–45 tonnes of cargo. The achievement strengthens India's strategic airlift capabilities, enabling faster transportation of troops, military equipment and essential supplies to challenging border regions. 

Former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on November 7 accused the BJP of hooliganism following an alleged attack on TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee’s residence in Kolkata’s Kalighat around 2 am. She also alleged that traditional Kali Puja celebrations were disrupted, with permissions for older events revoked while new arrangements blocked access to local festivities. Challenging the BJP over alleged intimidation, Mamata declared that bulldozers would have to run over her body. The incident reportedly involved clashes between BJP and TMC supporters, leaving eight people injured. Police intervened, while allegations of political violence and deteriorating law and order intensified. 

Former Chief Election Commissioner S.Y. Quraishi has questioned the legal validity of the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, citing alleged large-scale voter deletions during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Speaking at the Hashim Abdul Halim Memorial Lecture in Kolkata on November 6, he urged the Supreme Court to investigate constituencies where reports suggested 70–80% of Muslim voters were removed. Comparing SIR with Assam’s NRC exercise, Quraishi criticised the voter verification process and proposed restoring wrongly deleted names through an effective mechanism. He clarified that the Supreme Court must determine the matter and did not demand cancellation of the entire election. (PC: The Hindu)

A man, identified as Paramjeet Dhankar, was allegedly shot dead by his neighbour in Faridabad’s Sector 21C, Haryana, following a parking dispute on Dhanteras night. The accused, Mohan alias Monu Sharma, reportedly fired 15–16 rounds from his licensed pistol, with eight to nine bullets hitting the victim. Paramjeet had recently returned from Singapore to attend his nephew’s wedding on November 24. Police said the families had previous disagreements over parking and a dog-related issue.
