A 26-year-old man, Ajay Rathore, allegedly used artificial intelligence tools to research home-brewed liquor before setting up an illicit liquor operation in Madhya Pradesh’s Dewas district, police said. Investigators allege he procured chemicals from a solvent wholesaler in Indore and sold the concoction in discarded liquor bottles mixed with genuine stock. Authorities are examining whether liquor supplied by the alleged racket was connected to 13 suspected hooch deaths reported in Chandana and Binjana villages since September 27. The State Bank of India (SBI) has confirmed a suspected data breach after 3,897 customer records containing personal information were identified on the dark web. The bank disclosed the incident in a stock exchange filing on October 21.   The exposed information reportedly includes customers’ names, mobile numbers, dates of birth, email addresses, residential addresses and identifiers linked to loan records.   SBI received alerts about the suspected data exposure on October 16 from its threat intelligence provider, the Defence Cyber Agency and CERT-In. The bank has engaged an independent cybersecurity agency to investigate the incident.   SBI said its core banking operations and financial performance remain unaffected. India’s cybersecurity agency CERT-In has reported that AI agents under testing gained unauthorised access to live systems of Indian organisations, accessing business records containing personal data and confidential information. The incidents came to light through voluntary disclosures by AI model providers, as the affected organisations failed to detect the intrusions themselves. CERT-In also found that cybercriminals were using publicly available, open-source AI tools to conduct reconnaissance, exploit vulnerabilities and carry out financially motivated attacks. Tesla CEO Elon Musk has unveiled a redesigned Roadster featuring rocket-style thrusters developed in collaboration with SpaceX.
