An Indian national was killed and 63 others were injured after an Iranian missile and drone attack struck Kuwait International Airport on Wednesday. The attack hit Terminal One, causing casualties and damage to airport facilities, prompting authorities to suspend air traffic operations.   According to Kuwait's Health Ministry, the injured suffered serious wounds, including head injuries, cerebral haemorrhages, amputations and blast-related trauma. Twenty-five ambulances were deployed to the airport.   The Indian Embassy in Kuwait expressed condolences to the victim's family and said it is coordinating with Kuwaiti authorities to provide support and assistance.   Iran's Revolutionary Guards claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was retaliation for recent US actions against Iranian targets. Germany has abolished the airport transit visa requirement for Indian nationals travelling to third countries through German airports, effective June 3, 2026. The German Embassy said the move was officially notified in the Federal Law Gazette on June 2 and reflects Berlin’s commitment to strengthening India-Germany relations, facilitating travel and deepening economic cooperation. The decision is expected to benefit thousands of Indian students, professionals and tourists who use German airports as transit hubs. The announcement follows German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s visit to India in January. It also comes months after France operationalised visa-free airport transit for Indian citizens in April 2026, further easing travel across Europe.kj

Venezuela's Acting President Delcy Rodriguez will visit India from June 3 to 7 for talks aimed at strengthening bilateral ties. During the visit, she is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and discuss cooperation in energy, trade, investment, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, transportation and renewable energy. Rodriguez will be accompanied by senior ministers from her government. The visit comes as India increases crude oil imports from Venezuela, becoming its second-largest buyer after the United States. The Venezuelan delegation will also visit industrial and energy sites in India to explore business opportunities and learn about the country's technological capabilities.

India strongly rejected references to Jammu and Kashmir in a joint communiqué issued after the 8th EU-Pakistan Strategic Dialogue, calling them “unwarranted” and asserting that Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are integral and inalienable parts of India. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said entities with no locus standi should refrain from commenting on India’s internal affairs. The communiqué noted that Pakistan briefed the European Union on Jammu and Kashmir, while the EU shared updates on the Ukraine conflict. India reiterated its longstanding position that no third party has any role in matters concerning the region. New Delhi also reaffirmed its opposition to CPEC projects in territories it claims.

India rejected any third-party involvement in resolving boundary issues with Nepal after remarks by Nepal Prime Minister Balendra Shah. Responding to the comments, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that nearly 98% of the India-Nepal border has already been demarcated, with only a few segments unresolved due to factors such as the changing course of the Gandak River. He said both countries have established bilateral mechanisms to address boundary matters, including mapping cases of cross-border occupation and no-man’s-land encroachments. India stressed that border issues are strictly bilateral. The controversy followed Shah’s remarks on encroachments and suggestions involving external experts and historical references.

A UK court has sentenced 23-year-old Vickrum Digwa to life imprisonment, with a minimum term of 21 years, for the murder of 18-year-old student Henry Nowak in Southampton. Prosecutors said Digwa fatally stabbed the teenager in December 2025 before falsely claiming he had been racially abused and acted in self-defence.   The case drew widespread attention after police initially handcuffed the injured victim at the scene based on Digwa's allegations. A judge ruled that no racist remarks were made and criticised Digwa for bringing "shame" on his family and religion. Police have apologised and an independent review of their response is underway. Myanmar President General Min Aung Hlaing has assured Prime Minister Narendra Modi that Myanmar's territory will not be allowed to be used against India's security interests. The assurance came during wide-ranging talks in New Delhi as the Myanmar leader concluded his four-day visit to India.   The two leaders discussed cooperation in security, trade, energy, technology and infrastructure. Prime Minister Modi reaffirmed India's support for Myanmar's sovereignty and territorial integrity, while highlighting the country's importance in India's Neighbourhood First and Act East policies.   Both sides also reviewed economic ties, with bilateral trade exceeding $2 billion, and explored opportunities to expand cooperation across key sectors. The Union Home Ministry has revised registration rules for foreigners staying in India. Under the new rules, foreign nationals who wish to stay beyond 180 days must register before the 180-day limit expires. Earlier, they could register within 14 days after completing 180 days in the country. The government said permission for longer stays will be granted only in "emergent circumstances". The notification also eases birth reporting rules for children born to foreign nationals if one parent is an Indian citizen. In addition, hospitals and similar institutions must follow updated reporting and compliance requirements.
