Kannada actress Ranya Rao was arrested at Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport for attempting to smuggle 14.8 kg of gold worth ₹12.56 crore. The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) discovered the gold concealed in her shoes after she lied to authorities. Rao had made several trips to Dubai in the past year, allegedly transporting gold during her travels. Authorities also found gold jewelry and large sums of money at her residence. The case raises questions about potential links between smuggling operations and law enforcement. Investigations into the network are ongoing.

A new report by IQAir reveals that 13 of the world's 20 most polluted cities are in India, with Byrnihat in Assam topping the list. Delhi remains the most polluted capital city globally. The 2024 World Air Quality Report highlights that India is the fifth most polluted country, improving slightly from third place in 2023. Despite a 7% decline in PM2.5 concentrations, Delhi's pollution levels remain alarmingly high. The report also shows that 35% of Indian cities have PM2.5 levels exceeding 10 times the WHO's recommended limit.

In Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district, two teenagers, Mohammad Din and Rehman Ali, have gone missing from the Rajbagh area, intensifying concerns following the recent deaths of three locals. Authorities have initiated search operations to locate the missing youths. Just days prior, the bodies of Yogesh Singh (32), Darshan Singh (40), and Varun Singh (15) were found in Ishu Nallah after they disappeared en route to a wedding in Lohai Malhar. Union Minister Jitendra Singh condemned these killings as acts of terrorism, suggesting a deliberate attempt to destabilize the region. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah labeled the murders as barbaric, while Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incidents.

Graffiti with slogans like "Azad Kashmir" and "Free Palestine" appeared near Jadavpur University's gate number three, causing controversy. The responsible parties remain unidentified. Students and faculty protested the alleged presence of plainclothes police on campus, claiming intimidation by authorities. SFI leader Souryadipto Roy stated that students refused discussions with the administration until the police departed. JUTA General Secretary Partha Pratim Roy opposed police presence on campus. Tensions have been high since March 1, when two students were injured during a protest involving Education Minister Bratya Basu's convoy, leading to an FIR against Basu and professor Om Prakash Mishra. Students have submitted demands for campus safety and student union elections.

A Tanishq jewellery showroom in Bihar’s Arrah was looted of valuables worth ₹25 crore early Monday. CCTV footage showed 8-9 armed robbers threatening employees and security before fleeing with gold, diamonds, and cash. Two showroom executives were injured after being struck with revolvers. Showroom manager Kumar Mrityunjay criticized the delayed police response, calling it a "lapse by the authorities." A case has been registered, and police have arrested two suspects. The total value of stolen items may exceed ₹25 crore. Authorities are investigating further to recover the stolen valuables.

Despite being the largest cadres in the All India Services (AIS), Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh send fewer officers on central deputation. Data shows that by October 2024, only 7 officers from Maharashtra and 12 from UP were in key positions like secretary and additional secretary at the Centre. In contrast, smaller states like Odisha and AGMUT cadre have more representation. Factors such as officers’ reluctance to leave state postings, patronage, and better opportunities within their home states contribute to the disparity in central deputation participation.  

On March 8, 2025, the bodies of three civilians—Darshan Singh (40), Yogesh Singh (32), and Varun Singh (15)—were discovered near a waterfall in the forested region of Kathua district, Jammu and Kashmir. The trio had been missing since March 5 after attending a wedding in Marhoon village. Union Minister Jitendra Singh condemned the incident, labeling it a terrorist attack aimed at disrupting regional peace. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha ordered an investigation, assuring that the perpetrators would be swiftly brought to justice. The incident has sparked protests in Billawar town, leading to heightened security measures. If confirmed as a terrorist act, this would be the deadliest civilian attack in the Jammu region since June 2024. 

On March 10, 2025, Punjab Police apprehended Shehnaz Singh, also known as Shawn Bhinder, a transnational drug trafficker wanted by the FBI for his involvement in a global narcotics syndicate. Singh was a key figure in smuggling cocaine from Colombia into the United States and Canada. Following a U.S. operation on February 26 that resulted in the arrest of his associates and the seizure of 391 kg of methamphetamine, 109 kg of cocaine, and four firearms, Singh fled to India. Punjab Police successfully tracked and arrested him in Tarn Taran, demonstrating their commitment to combating drug trafficking and organized crime. 

On March 9, 2025, violent clashes broke out in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, during a rally celebrating India's ICC Champions Trophy victory. As the procession passed near Jama Masjid, stones were allegedly thrown, leading to arson and vandalism. Several vehicles and shops were set ablaze, and at least four individuals sustained injuries. Authorities deployed heavy police and army presence to control the situation. The incident has heightened communal tensions in the area, prompting calls for peace from local leaders.
