A top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant was killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district on Tuesday. The militant was identified by security officials as Mohammad Asif, alias Hashim Moosa, who was wanted in connection with several attacks in the region. The operation, named Operation Korag, was carried out jointly by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) near Yousmarg. According to the Army, militants opened fire after troops challenged their movement. Security forces later recovered Moosa’s body along with weapons and other materials. The operation was ongoing. Three relatives from Gujarat were allegedly kidnapped in Ethiopia while attempting to travel to the United States through an illegal migration route. Ritwik Jansari, Mamta Chavda and Mayuri had left Gujarat on September 20 after their families reportedly paid agents between ₹60 lakh and ₹75 lakh per person. After reaching Ethiopia, contact with the trio was lost. Their families later received a ransom demand of ₹1 crore from a person identifying himself as “Khan.” An agent claimed that ₹60 lakh had already been paid but another ₹40 lakh was demanded. The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has announced that it will hold its “Mumbai Chalo” protest on October 2, Gandhi Jayanti, at Shivaji Park in Mumbai. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke said the gathering will begin at 4 p.m. near Gate No. 6 and called for Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation. The announcement follows Mumbai Police’s earlier refusal to grant permission for the proposed protest, citing court directions and restrictions concerning Shivaji Park. Security forces killed wanted Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist Fauzi Musa, also known as Sulaiman Shah, during a gunfight in the higher reaches of central Kashmir’s Budgam district. The Indian Army said Musa was wanted in connection with several terror attacks over the years on both sides of the Pir Panjal range. Codenamed Operation Korag, the joint operation involving the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF was launched after intelligence indicated militant movement near Yousmarg and Dudhpathri. Troops challenged suspected militants after observing suspicious activity, triggering an exchange of fire in which one terrorist was killed. Musa had escaped an earlier September 5 encounter, while his associate Yasir was killed. Additional forces were deployed to prevent further escapes.

A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel allegedly opened fire on his colleagues at a camp in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district on Tuesday, killing four people, including an officer. The incident took place around 6.40 pm at the Sewa Power Project in Mashka village, Basohli, following an argument, according to sources. The victims were identified as Assistant Commandant Ankit Kumar Pandey, Sub-Inspector Lakshman Singh and constables Rafiq Ahmed and Sandeep Kumar. The injured personnel were taken to a hospital in Himachal Pradesh, where they later died. The suspected shooter, Head Constable Avdesh Kumar Singh, was arrested. A video purportedly showing a man being caught after allegedly harassing women inside a Harbour Line ladies’ compartment at Mumbai’s Kurla station has gone viral. According to a post by Harbour Line Users on X, alert passengers allegedly confronted the man and handed him to the Railway Protection Force (RPF). The video appears to show three to four people, including an RPF official, taking the resisting man down a railway bridge towards the platform, while other passengers follow. He is seen resisting and asking passengers to release him before later being dragged by his legs along the platform. Central Railway’s Mumbai division asked RPF to examine the matter. The allegations could not be independently verified.
