In 2024, approximately 4,300 Indian millionaires are projected to emigrate, with the UAE being their preferred destination, according to Henley & Partners. This outflow positions India third globally, behind China (15,200) and the UK (9,500) in millionaire departures. Despite this trend, India continues to generate a significant number of high-net-worth individuals, offsetting these losses. Three militants, suspected to have crossed from across the border and involved in the June 11 attack on a special police officer (SPO) in Gandoh, were killed in an encounter with security forces in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir, on Wednesday. The militants opened fire on security personnel during a combing operation in Gandoh, injuring SPO Ashiq Hussain. Senior police officials, including ADGP Anand Jain, supervised the operation, recovering the bodies along with two M4 rifles, an AK-47, ammunition, and explosives. The militants are believed to belong to the same group that previously attacked security forces in the area.

Kerala's State Assembly has unanimously passed a resolution to change the state's name from 'Kerala' to 'Keralam'. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan led the initiative, highlighting the cultural importance of 'Keralam' in Malayalam tradition. Originally proposed in August 2023 and reintroduced recently, the resolution aims to reflect Kerala's linguistic heritage and identity. The Bengaluru court rejected the bail plea of Prajwal Revanna, a suspended JD-S leader accused of rape. Revanna, 33, was arrested by a Special Investigation Team on May 31 after returning from Germany. Explicit videos allegedly showing him surfaced before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, leading to multiple sex crime allegations. The JD-S suspended him following these accusations. His brother, Suraj Revanna, is also facing charges of sexual abuse. Both are grandchildren of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda.

The construction of the Ram Temple complex in Ayodhya is on track, with the first floor expected to be completed by July-end and the second floor by December this year. The entire complex is likely to be finished by March 2025, according to Nripendra Mishra, Chairman of the Ram Mandir Construction Committee. The Bombay High Court has ordered the release of a Pune teenager involved in a Porsche accident that claimed two lives, declaring his remand order illegal. The court granted custody to his paternal aunt since his parents and grandfather are incarcerated. Initially granted bail, the minor was later remanded to an observation home, a decision overturned by the court citing lack of jurisdiction. Amid the NEET-UG 2024 controversy, a sting operation by India Today exposed Bijender Gupta, revealing intricate details of the paper leak network. Gupta, involved in multiple previous leaks, disclosed methods involving transportation mishaps and collusion with blacklisted firms to obtain tender contracts. He implicated key accused Sanjeev Mukhiya, on the run, predicting his evasion from authorities. The racket aimed at benefiting 700 students with potential earnings of Rs 200–300 crore. The Uttar Pradesh government has introduced a stringent ordinance to combat examination paper leaks. Approved on Tuesday, the Uttar Pradesh Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Ordinance imposes penalties ranging from two years to life imprisonment and fines up to ₹1 crore. It covers exams held by UP Public Service Commission, Subordinates Service Selection Board, UP Board, and state universities. Offenses include distributing fake question papers and creating fake employment websites. The ordinance mandates non-bailable trials and allows property attachment and blacklisting of guilty parties. 

The Kerala Legislative Assembly unanimously passed a resolution on Monday to rename the state as 'Keralam'. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who moved the resolution, emphasized that the state's name is 'Keralam' in Malayalam, reflecting the linguistic and cultural identity of its people. The resolution, supported by both the ruling and opposition parties, urges the Centre to amend the name in the Constitution under Article 3. A similar resolution was adopted in August 2023 but required re-presentation due to technicalities. The name change aims to correct the official designation to match the state’s local nomenclature.
