Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Shahjahan Sheikh faces a six-year suspension after arrest in the Sandeshkhali sexual abuse and land-grabbing case. The Basirhat court ordered a 10-day police custody for Sheikh. TMC's Derek O'Brien stated, "We walk the talk" while challenging BJP to act against leaders facing corruption charges. Sheikh, on the run for 55 days, was arrested for assaulting ED officers during a raid related to a ration scam. India's gross domestic product (GDP) soared to 8.4% in the third quarter of FY24, surpassing analysts' predictions and marking a significant acceleration from 4.3% in the same period last year. The robust growth, fueled by double-digit expansion in the construction sector (10.7%) and solid performance in manufacturing (8.5%), outpaced the 7.6% growth recorded in Q2FY24. The Punjab and Haryana High Court ruled that Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, convicted of raping two women disciples, cannot be granted parole without prior court permission. This decision follows Singh's recent 50-day parole and earlier releases in 2023 and 2022. The court's directive came in response to a petition by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee opposing Singh's parole. Questions were raised about other parole grants. The Haryana Good Conduct Prisoners (Temporary Release) Act, 2022 allows regular parole but excludes those convicted of multiple murders or under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.          

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) imposed a hefty fine of ₹30 lakh on Air India for the absence of adequate wheelchairs at Mumbai airport, resulting in the tragic death of an 80-year-old passenger. The incident occurred on February 12 when the elderly passenger suffered a fatal heart attack after walking 1.5 km due to the unavailability of a wheelchair. Despite receiving a show cause notice, Air India failed to comply with regulations, prompting the DGCA to take stringent action. An advisory has been issued to all airlines to ensure the availability of wheelchairs for passengers in need.

In a recent demolition drive by Delhi Development Authority (DDA), the house of Vakeel Hasan, a key figure in the Uttarakhand tunnel rescue, was razed in Khajuri Khas area. Hasan and other residents claim they were not given prior notice. DDA insists on prior information and cites the need for planned development. Yash Mittal, a college student, went missing, leading to a ransom demand of ₹6 crore. CCTV footage and phone records led police to his friends. They confessed to murdering Yash after a party brawl and burying his body in a field in Gajraula, Uttar Pradesh. Three of the accused were arrested after an encounter, while one is on the run. The ransom messages were sent to mislead Yash's family. Yash was pursuing a Bachelor's degree in business administration. His parents were devastated after his body was found.
