E-commerce giant Amazon has removed sales options and initiated action against sellers involved in the 'Ram Mandir Prasad' scam, where sweets were deceptively sold under this guise. The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) issued a notice to Amazon following a complaint by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT). The CCPA warned of action under the Consumer Protection Act if Amazon fails to respond within seven days. Amazon acknowledges the communication from CCPA, stating they are investigating and taking appropriate action against the listings as per their policies. The scam came to light through an India Today report, exposing misleading claims by sellers.

Acharya Satyendra Das, the chief priest of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi, demands an investigation after the first image of the new Ram Lalla idol leaks online ahead of the Ayodhya temple's consecration on January 22. Expressing concern, Das emphasizes that the idol's eyes should not be revealed before the pran pratishtha rituals. Officials suspect the leak was done by those involved in temple construction and contemplate action against them. The 51-inch idol, carved in black stone, was placed in the sanctum sanctorum on Thursday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to attend the consecration ceremony.

In a tragic incident during the silver jubilee celebrations at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, Vistex CEO Sanjay Shah lost his life, and a colleague suffered serious injuries. The CEO and his colleague entered an iron cage for a descent, but a broken iron chain led to a fall. Despite immediate hospitalization, Sanjay Shah succumbed to his injuries, while his colleague remains in critical condition. A case has been registered against the event management authorities based on a complaint from another company official. The unexpected accident has cast a pall over the firm's milestone celebration.            

In anticipation of the Ram temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya, the Maharashtra government has declared a public holiday on January 22. The Supreme Court on Friday rejected petitions filed by 10 out of 11 convicts in the Bilkis Bano gangrape case seeking more time to surrender. Citing reasons like family responsibilities, health issues, and winter crop harvesting, the convicts had sought an extension of 4-6 weeks beyond the January 20 deadline set by the SC. However, the apex court refused to extend the deadline, stating the reasons given do not prevent compliance with its January 8 order cancelling their premature release. The SC had earlier scrapped the remission granted by the Gujarat government to the 11 convicted for gangraping Bilkis Bano and murdering her family during the 2002 riots.
