Prime Minister Narendra Modi has accepted the invitation from the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust to inaugurate the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22, 2024. The temple's construction committee aims to complete the ground floor of the three-storey temple by December this year. The installation of Lord Ram's idol in the Garbhagriha is set for January 22, 2024. This significant development follows the 2019 Supreme Court verdict, allowing the construction of the temple at the disputed site and the allocation of an alternative five-acre plot for a mosque.          

Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar emphasized an end to the era of leniency towards social media platforms, stating that strict accountability will be enforced globally. Chandrasekhar's comments followed a US federal lawsuit against Meta, accusing the company of harming young users' mental health. He highlighted the need for platforms to be more accountable, insisting that the days of immunity are over. Chandrasekhar affirmed India's commitment to ensuring citizens' protection, indicating a zero-tolerance policy for non-compliance with IT rules. In a significant address, Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud emphasized the systemic misuse of India's legal framework to oppress specific communities, citing Supreme Court judgments. He called for judges to be cognizant of social realities, particularly the historical wrongs committed against marginalized groups. Noting the denial of voting rights to oppressed communities in both India and the US, the CJI stressed the vital role of constitutional democracies in safeguarding and uplifting these communities. Chandrachud also defended his minority opinion on same-sex marriages, asserting that judicial opinions often reflect constitutional values and personal conscience.

The Chhattisgarh High Court has issued a noteworthy verdict, asserting that wives should not be treated as mere hired help or bonded laborers in their matrimonial homes. This pronouncement was made in a case where a husband had sought a divorce, claiming cruelty on the grounds that his wife refused to live in his village. The court, after careful consideration of the evidence and circumstances, ruled that the husband's insistence on a specific place of residence without a valid reason did not constitute a legitimate basis for divorce. The judgment underscores the court's commitment to upholding the dignity and rights of spouses in matrimonial disputes.

Numerous gifts and mementos received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi are currently under e-auction. Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi said a statue of Ram Darbar, model of Golden Temple, Kamdhenu statue, and Jerusalem souvenir are among the popular items in the latest e-auction of gifts presented to PM Modi. The Election Commission of India has announced it will appoint actor Rajkummar Rao as its national icon ahead of assembly elections in five states next month. Formal ceremonies will be held on Thursday. Over 161 million voters across Mizoram, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, and Rajasthan will participate in the upcoming polls. Mizoram votes on November 7th, Chhattisgarh in two phases on the 7th and 17th, Madhya Pradesh and Telangana on the 17th and 30th respectively, and Rajasthan on November 25th after a date change. Votes will be counted on December 3rd. The chief election commissioner said these polls hold significance as the last before 2024 general elections.

The Statue of Unity in Gujarat has seen a remarkable growth in annual visitors since its inauguration in 2018. The towering monument to Sardar Patel has welcomed nearly 16 crore tourists in less than five years. After over 4.5 lakh visitors in 2018 and 2.7 crore in 2019, footfall dipped during the pandemic to 1.3 crore in 2020 but rebounded to over 3.4 crore in 2021. 2022 saw the highest numbers yet at 4.3 crore, while 2023 has already drawn 3.6 crore visitors so far.
