An 11-year-old boy was killed after a lion attacked him near the steps of Girnar Hill in Gujarat's Junagadh district on Saturday. The child, identified as Mayur Chauhan, was climbing the hill with his family to visit the Ambaji Temple when he stopped to rest near the 50th step. A lion suddenly emerged from the nearby forest, seized the boy, and dragged him into the woods despite the presence of pilgrims. Forest officials and rescue teams later recovered the child's body. The Supreme Court witnessed dramatic scenes after Prabal Pratap, a petitioner from Lucknow appearing in person, disrupted proceedings by using abusive language against Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and throwing case papers inside the courtroom. The incident occurred during the hearing of his plea seeking directions to register an FIR against a Lucknow police officer. Security personnel quickly escorted him out, while the bench of Justices K.V. Viswanathan and Alok Aradhe chose not to initiate contempt proceedings, observing that his conduct appeared incoherent. The court later dismissed his appeal, finding no merit in his case. 

India's growing demand for GLP-1 weight-loss medicines has led to a rise in misleading products on e-commerce websites. Searches for "GLP-1" on major platforms show patches, powders and capsules that do not contain GLP-1 medicines such as semaglutide or tirzepatide. Health experts warned that these products are not approved GLP-1 treatments and may not provide similar results. They said true GLP-1 medicines are prescription drugs and cannot be delivered through patches or drinks. Experts advised buyers to read product labels carefully and avoid confusing marketing terms like "GLP-1 support" or "GLP-1 booster."

US President Donald Trump said the United States has agreed to hold talks with Iran despite ongoing military tensions. "The ceasefire is over," Trump wrote on Truth Social, adding that Washington had agreed to continue discussions with Tehran. His statement came after two days of US airstrikes across Iran. Iranian health officials said the attacks killed at least 14 people and injured 78 others. The latest escalation followed attacks on commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz. The Centre has said offering pure petrol and different ethanol blends at fuel stations is not practical. It said E20 fuel, which contains 20% ethanol, is "superior and cleaner" than pure petrol. The government said storing different fuel types across the country would increase costs and create major logistical problems. It added that E20 may reduce mileage by 3–5% in some older vehicles but offers better performance and lower emissions. The Centre also said there is no evidence that E20 damages vehicle engines. It urged people not to believe misinformation circulating on social media.

A tunnel boring machine named Durga has completed a 1.6-km tunnel between Kidderpore and Victoria for Kolkata Metro's Purple Line. The work finished on Friday, one year after it began in July 2025. This is the first of two tunnels on this section. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw praised the team for the achievement. Metro officials said the work was completed safely without affecting traffic above ground. The Purple Line will connect Joka with Esplanade. At present, trains run only from Joka to Majerhat. Officials said the full 15.1-km metro line is expected to be completed within the next three years.

The naturally formed ice Shiva Lingam at the Amarnath Cave Shrine melted just five days after the start of the 57-day Amarnath Yatra 2026, sparking concern among devotees and experts. Officials attributed the early melting to unusually high temperatures, changing weather patterns, and heavy pilgrim footfall inside the cave. The incident has renewed debate over the impact of climate change and human activity on the fragile Himalayan environment. Authorities have urged pilgrims not to panic, emphasizing that the spiritual significance of the pilgrimage remains unchanged while measures are being reviewed to better protect the sacred site.
