Victoria, president of UTSOPI, highlighted its impact on safety and dignity, while critics warn it may not prevent exploitation. Human Rights Watch called it a "radical step." The law emerged from protests demanding better support during the Covid pandemic.

Russia’s air force struck Aleppo, Syria, killing over 300 insurgents after an offensive by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, the largest since 2020. The Islamist group seized Aleppo airport and parts of Idlib province, challenging government forces. At least 130 people have been killed in sectarian clashes in Kurram, Pakistan, between Sunni and Shia Muslims. The violence erupted after gunmen attacked a convoy of Shia Muslims last week, leaving 43 dead. Retaliatory clashes have since killed more. Despite a ceasefire deal mediated by authorities, tensions remain high. The Kurram district has long been a hotspot for sectarian violence. The government has pledged to punish those responsible for the killings.
