The Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Tuesday hit back at rebel MPs, with senior leader Kalyan Banerjee saying those who no longer support the party should step down. "If someone has differences of opinion with the party... and instead chooses to support someone else, then it is their moral responsibility to resign," he said.   Banerjee also praised former Rajya Sabha MP Sukhendu Sekhar Roy's resignation, saying he had "upheld ethical standards and political morality." He questioned the rebel camp's claim that around 20 TMC Lok Sabha MPs were ready to back the NDA, asking why the alleged letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker had not been made public.  

Kashmiri diaspora groups staged protests outside the Pakistani Consulate in Bradford, UK, after reports that at least 11 people were killed during security force action in Rawalakot in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK). Protesters accused Pakistani authorities of using excessive force against civilians.   At the same time, around 30 British MPs, led by Bradford East MP Imran Hussain, urged the UK government to intervene diplomatically over reports of arrests, communication blackouts and human rights concerns in the region.   The unrest is linked to protests demanding economic relief, affordable electricity and greater civic rights in POK.

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), a satirical student-led movement, has announced a protest in Pune on June 11. The demonstration will be held at Savitribai Phule Pune University at 4 pm. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke is demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in examinations and recruitment tests. The Pune protest will be the group's second major demonstration after a recent event at Delhi's Jantar Mantar. Dipke said the movement will remain peaceful and independent of political parties. A major political development unfolded on Monday as rebel Trinamool Congress MPs claimed that around 20 party lawmakers are forming a separate bloc and intend to support the NDA. Trinamool MP Sharmila Sarkar told NDTV that the group has decided to align with the ruling alliance and will formally communicate its position.   Senior MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar said nearly 20 MPs have agreed to write to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla seeking recognition as part of the NDA. She said the decision followed extensive discussions among MPs and described her removal as the party's chief whip as "arbitrary" and "unilateral". The party has since faced growing dissent, with several leaders and legislators questioning its leadership and future direction.   Sources told The Indian Express that the MPs are exploring their options as unrest deepens within the party. The TMC has not officially responded to the reports. The development could further complicate efforts by Mamata Banerjee to keep the party united after its electoral setback. (PC: X)

Leaders of 23 opposition parties met at Delhi’s Constitution Club on Monday for a key INDIA bloc meeting aimed at strengthening coordination and preparing a strategy against the BJP ahead of future elections.   Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge used the meeting to attack the Centre, saying, “India’s foreign policy has been compromised.” He also raised concerns over unemployment, examination irregularities and what opposition leaders described as threats to democratic institutions.   Senior leaders including Sonia Gandhi, Sharad Pawar, Mamata Banerjee and Akhilesh Yadav attended the meeting. However, the DMK and the Aam Aadmi Party skipped the gathering.   Opposition leaders stressed the need to “safeguard democratic values” and maintain unity, while BJP leaders dismissed the meeting, calling the alliance ineffective and lacking purpose. Trinamool Congress leader Jahangir ‘Pushpa’ Khan was arrested by the West Bengal Special Task Force near the Nepal border while allegedly trying to flee India after weeks in hiding. Khan faces multiple FIRs, including allegations of EVM tampering and voter intimidation during the West Bengal Assembly elections in Falta. The Election Commission had cancelled polling in the constituency, citing severe electoral offences and ordered a repoll. Khan's arrest came after the Calcutta High Court withdrew his interim protection from arrest. BJP candidate Debangshu Panda later won the Falta seat by a margin exceeding one lakh votes. 3 separate egg-pelting incidents were reported across West Bengal on Sunday as angry residents protested against TMC leaders facing corruption and criminal allegations. In Midnapore, people threw eggs at a police vehicle carrying TMC leader Sujoy Hazra, accusing him of taking money for housing projects without delivering homes. In Kolkata, councillors Bappaditya Dasgupta and Md Jasimuddin also faced protests and egg attacks while being escorted by police. Dasgupta was arrested in an extortion case, while Jasimuddin was arrested in a POCSO case. Large crowds gathered, demanding action and raising slogans against the accused leaders.

Congress leader and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi praised 18-year-old Sarthak Sidhant and his associate Nisarga Adhikary for highlighting alleged irregularities in the CBSE's on-screen marking (OSM) system. Sharing a video of his meeting with Sarthak, Gandhi said the teenagers achieved what even major investigative agencies could not. He claimed that "Modi ji wants youth to keep making reels and frying pakodas" instead of questioning the system. The controversy relates to allegations of answer-sheet mismatches in the digital evaluation process. Gandhi has demanded an independent judicial inquiry into the matter.
