Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on Sunday that Sindh, now in Pakistan, may return to India in the future. Speaking at a Sindhi community event in New Delhi, he said that Sindh is not part of India today, but it will always remain part of India’s civilisational heritage. He added that borders can change, and no one knows what may happen tomorrow. His remarks come months after Operation Sindoor, which raised tensions between India and Pakistan. Canada is set to change its citizenship law, bringing relief to many Indian-origin families. The new Bill C-3 ends the old 2009 rule that allowed citizenship by descent only if one parent was born or naturalised in Canada. This rule had created “lost Canadians,” who believed they were citizens but were left out. The new law restores their citizenship and introduces a “substantial connection test.” A Canadian parent born abroad can now pass citizenship to their child if they have lived in Canada for 1,095 days. Smriti Mandhana postponed her wedding after her father, Shrinivas Mandhana, suffered symptoms similar to a heart attack on Sunday. He felt sudden chest pain and was taken to Sarvhit Hospital in Sangli. Doctors said his cardiac enzymes were slightly high, and he needs round-the-clock monitoring. An angiography may be required. His condition is stable but under observation. The doctor said stress from the busy wedding preparations may have caused the symptoms. US President Donald Trump said Ukraine has shown “zero gratitude” for US efforts to end the war, even as peace talks continue in Geneva. His message came minutes after President Volodymyr Zelensky said the US-proposed 28-point plan could include Ukraine’s national interests. Ukraine’s top security official Rustem Umerov said the talks were making progress and that several Ukrainian priorities were now part of the draft. Wing Commander Namansh Syal was given a hero’s farewell in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra district on Sunday. He died on November 21 after his Tejas LCA Mk-1 crashed during a show at the Dubai Airshow. His wife, Wing Commander Afshan Akhtar, an IAF officer, bid him a heartbreaking goodbye while their six-year-old daughter stood by her side. IAF officers honoured him with a gun salute as villagers and officials paid their final respects. Syal, remembered as a dedicated and skilled fighter pilot, was commissioned in 2009. Ladakh’s Leh Apex Body (LAB) has made the release of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk its foremost demand before resuming talks with the Centre. The group stated that without Wangchuk’s freedom and a general amnesty for all individuals detained following the September 24 violence, dialogue cannot move forward. LAB leaders stressed that Wangchuk’s detention has created deep mistrust among locals and is seen as a major obstacle to restoring peace. They also reiterated broader demands, including statehood for Ladakh and constitutional safeguards under the Sixth Schedule. Until the government responds, LAB says negotiations will remain on hold. Wing Commander Afshan tearfully paid her final respects to her husband, Wing Commander Namansh Syal, whose Tejas aircraft tragically crashed during an aerial display at the Dubai Air Show. His body was brought to his ancestral village, Patialkar in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, where he was cremated with full military honours, including a gun salute. In a heart-wrenching moment, Afshan—also an IAF officer—stood in uniform, fighting back tears, and saluted her late husband. The Indian Air Force remembered him as a dedicated pilot with “unwavering commitment, exceptional skill, and an unyielding sense of duty.” 

The wedding of Indian women’s cricket star Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal, originally slated for Sunday in Mandhana’s hometown in Maharashtra, has been indefinitely postponed after Mandhana’s father, Srinivas Mandhana, fell ill and was rushed to hospital. Mandhana’s manager revealed the 27-year-old athlete chose not to proceed with the ceremony amid the medical emergency. The couple had already commenced wedding rituals—Mehendi, Haldi, Sangeet— and even organised a playful bride-vs-groom cricket match for guests. All plans are now on hold until her father recovers. 

After a difficult year, Indian shuttler Lakshya Sen closed his 2025 campaign on a high note by winning the BWF Australian Open Super 500.
