An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale struck the Andaman and Nicobar Islands at 12:06 pm on Sunday, the National Center for Seismology (NCS) said. The quake occurred at a depth of 10 km, about 90 km from the islands. No reports of injuries or property damage have been received so far. The German Research Centre for Geosciences reported a slightly higher magnitude of 6.07, while the US Geological Survey recorded it at 5.5. Authorities confirmed there was no tsunami threat. Videos have emerged showing inmates at Parappana Agrahara Central Jail in Bengaluru using mobile phones and watching television, sparking concerns over serious security lapses and preferential treatment. Authorities have launched a departmental inquiry to determine how the devices entered the prison, who facilitated access, and who leaked the footage. Prince George joined King Charles III, Queen Camilla, and his mother, Princess Catherine, at the Festival of Remembrance in London’s Royal Albert Hall. Pakistan has created a new top military post, appointing Field Marshal Asim Munir as the country’s first Chief of Defence Forces. The 27th Constitutional Amendment allows the President to appoint both the Army Chief and the Chief of Defence Forces on the Prime Minister’s advice. The move follows Munir’s promotion to Field Marshal earlier this year. The new role will ensure unified command of the Army, Navy, and Air Force. A firm majority-owned by Parth Pawar, son of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, must pay approximately ₹42 crore in double stamp duty to annul a controversial ₹300 crore sale of a 40-acre parcel in Pune’s Mundhwa area. The land, originally designated as “Mahar Watan” for tribal farmers, was transferred to the company without required clearances and with an alleged stamp duty exemption.
