An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale struck the Andaman and Nicobar Islands at 12:06 pm on Sunday, the National Center for Seismology (NCS) said. The quake occurred at a depth of 10 km, about 90 km from the islands. No reports of injuries or property damage have been received so far. The German Research Centre for Geosciences reported a slightly higher magnitude of 6.07, while the US Geological Survey recorded it at 5.5. Authorities confirmed there was no tsunami threat.
