Pakistan faces severe water risks after India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) following the April Pahalgam attack, said the Ecological Threat Report 2025. Vijay Kumar Mahato, a 27-year-old from Jharkhand’s Giridih district, was killed in Saudi Arabia after being caught in a crossfire between police and criminals involved in the illegal liquor trade. Mahato, who worked for Hyundai Engineering and Construction, was hit by a stray bullet near his worksite on October 15. Before dying, he sent a voice note to his wife saying he had been shot by mistake. His family has refused to bring back the body until the company promises compensation. At Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in Mumbai, customs officers intercepted two major smuggling attempts. The gibbons are an endangered species. In the second case, officers seized 7.97 kg of alleged hydroponic marijuana worth approximately ₹8 crore, also arriving from Bangkok via checked baggage.
