A 29-year-old man named Aqeel Khan, arrested for allegedly molesting two Australian women cricketers in Indore during the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup, is a habitual offender with over 10 criminal cases registered against him. His extensive record includes charges of molestation, robbery, assault, and attempted murder dating back to 2012, with cases under the Indian Penal Code, Arms Act, and Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. He had recently completed a 10-year sentence at Bhairavgarh jail. Aqeel approached the cricketers on his motorcycle near their hotel on Khajrana Road, groping both players before fleeing. Police tracked him through CCTV footage; he crashed his bike during pursuit, suffering fractures.

In a forceful statement following a fatal crash near Kurnool district in Andhra Pradesh, where a sleeper bus collided with a motorcycle and caught fire, claiming at least 19 lives, V C Sajjanar, the Police Commissioner of Hyderabad, labelled drunk driving as “terrorism.” The biker, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, lost control on NH-44, causing a catastrophic chain-reaction that engulfed the bus in flames. French authorities arrested two suspects connected to the audacious Louvre Museum heist that shocked the world on October 19, 2025. One suspect was apprehended at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport on Saturday night while attempting to board a flight to Algeria. The second suspect was arrested shortly after in the Paris region. Both suspects are believed to be from Seine-Saint-Denis and part of a four-person gang. The thieves, disguised as construction workers, used a basket lift to access the Apollo Gallery, stealing eight pieces of French Crown Jewels valued at €88 million ($102 million) in a seven-minute daylight raid. The gang used mini chainsaws to gain access and escaped on scooters.

According to official figures from the Ministry of Education for the 2024-25 academic year, 7,993 schools across India reported zero student enrolment, yet collectively employed 20,817 teachers. The highest concentration of such schools was in West Bengal (3,812 schools employing 17,965 teachers), followed by Telangana (2,245 schools, 1,016 teachers) and Madhya Pradesh (463 schools, 223 teachers). Compared with the previous year’s figure of 12,954 zero-enrolment schools, the number has dropped by about 38 %. Several states and Union Territories, including Haryana, Maharashtra, Goa, Assam, and Delhi, reported no schools with zero enrolment. Officials say that states have been advised to merge under-utilised schools and optimise staff and infrastructure. Peace talks in Istanbul between Pakistan and Afghanistan concluded after a nine-hour session, with both delegations committing to immediate de-escalation of border tensions, though no formal agreement was signed. Pakistan's defence minister warned failure would mean "open war."

President Donald Trump claimed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured him that India would halt Russian oil imports, calling it a "big step." However, India's foreign ministry spokesperson stated he was "not aware of any conversation" between Trump and Modi, or any assurance about stopping Russian oil purchases. Trump had received assurances that India would halt purchases "within a short period of time," as Washington seeks to pressure Russia by cutting Kremlin's energy revenues. Following new U.S. sanctions, India's major refiners are preparing to sharply cut Russian crude purchases, though analysts suggest any cuts would likely be symbolic rather than structural, as Russian oil remains vital for India's economy.
