China has welcomed the resumption of direct commercial flights with India, viewing it as a positive move in restoring bilateral ties. IndiGo will begin flights from Kolkata to Guangzhou on October 26, and Delhi to Guangzhou on November 10. China Eastern Airlines will resume its Shanghai-Delhi route from November 9. Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China spokesperson Guo Jiakun said the renewed connectivity supports friendly exchanges among the more than 2.8 billion people of both nations and signals China’s intent to work with India for stable, long-term relations. A private sleeper bus traveling from Hyderabad to Bengaluru caught fire near Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, on October 24, 2025, after colliding with a motorcycle. The motorcycle hit an open fuel tank, triggering the blaze. Onboard were 44 passengers and a consignment of 234 smartphones worth ₹46 lakh destined for Flipkart. The lithium-ion batteries of the smartphones exploded, accelerating the fire. At least 20 passengers died and several others were injured. The bus driver fled, while co-driver Siva Narayana was arrested. Authorities are investigating negligence, overspeeding, and safety lapses in this tragic incident.

Former CIA officer John Kiriakou has revealed that Osama bin Laden narrowly escaped capture at Tora Bora, Afghanistan, by disguising himself as a woman. The U.S. military had reportedly cornered bin Laden and ordered him to surrender, but he requested time until dawn to evacuate women and children. The translator conveying his message was later identified as an al-Qaeda operative embedded within U.S. forces. Elipe Siva Nagu, a 34-year-old Indian national employed as a staff nurse at Singapore’s Raffles Hospital, has been sentenced to 14 months in prison and two strokes of the cane after pleading guilty to molesting a male visitor. The incident occurred on June 18, 2025, when the victim entered a patient’s toilet and was approached by Nagu, who claimed he needed to “disinfect” him. Nagu then applied soap to his hand and molested the startled victim. The victim later experienced flashbacks of the incident. In a tragic development from Satara, Maharashtra, Dr. Sampada Munde, a 28-year-old government doctor, died by suicide in a hotel room. In a note written on her palm, she accused Police Sub-Inspector Gopal Badane of repeated sexual assault over five months and Prashant Bankar, the son of her landlord, of mental harassment. Bankar was arrested on October 24, while PSI Badane remains at large. The police have charged both individuals with rape and abetment to suicide. Investigations are ongoing, with forensic analysis of the palm note underway .
