An Indian-origin motel manager, Rakesh Ehagaban, 51, was shot dead in Pittsburgh, USA, on Friday. He was killed at point-blank range after stepping out to check a disturbance outside his motel. Police said the shooter, 37-year-old Stanley Eugene West, opened fire after an argument with a woman at the motel. When Ehagaban approached and asked, “Are you alright, bud?”, West shot him in the head. The gunman fled in a U-Haul van. The Indian Army rescued stranded workers after massive floods hit Bhutan’s Phuentsholing area on Sunday. Continuous rain caused the Torsa river to overflow, flooding several homes and camps. Two Army helicopters from Sevoke Road Aviation Base were sent after Bhutan’s local rescue aircraft could not take off due to bad weather. Three workers from Rigsar Construction Pvt. Ltd. were safely airlifted. Officials praised the Army pilots for flying through poor visibility and dangerous conditions. Nearly 1,000 trekkers were trapped after a severe blizzard hit the Mount Everest region in Tibet on Sunday. At least 7 patients died after a fire broke out in the ICU of Sawai Man Singh Hospital in Jaipur on Sunday night. Families said hospital staff fled as smoke filled the ward.
