Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said singer Zubeen Garg died while swimming without a life jacket in Singapore. An encounter began between the Indian Army and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district on Friday night. The army said the gunfight started around 8 PM after security forces launched an intelligence-based operation. Troops from the White Knight Corps came in contact with the terrorists, leading to an exchange of fire. “Operations are currently in progress,” the army said in a post on X. Two Assam Rifles jawans were killed and five others injured after unidentified gunmen ambushed a convoy in Manipur’s Bishnupur district on Friday evening. The attack took place around 6 pm near Nambol Sabal Leikai on National Highway 2, when troops from the 33 Assam Rifles were moving towards Bishnupur. The Defence PRO, Guwahati, said the injured were evacuated to RIMS hospital and are stable. No group has claimed responsibility yet.
