Congress MP Rahul Gandhi accused the Election Commission of mass voter deletions in Congress strongholds before the 2023 Karnataka election. At a press conference, he presented three case studies—Godabai, Suryakant, and Nagaraj—as “100% proof” of fraud. Gandhi claimed fake logins and automated software were used to file voter deletion forms. In one case, a man allegedly deleted 12 voters in 14 minutes, while another filed two forms in 36 seconds at 4:07 am. US President Donald Trump said talk show host Jimmy Kimmel “should have been suspended a long time ago” for his remarks about conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Kimmel’s show was suspended after he said the “Maga gang” was trying to politicize Kirk’s death. Speaking in the UK, Trump said Kimmel was “fired for lack of talent” and had “bad ratings.” Democrats called the suspension an attack on free speech and an abuse of power. Chief Justice of India B.R. Gavai has responded to criticism over his comment “go ask your deity” in a case concerning restoring a Lord Vishnu idol at the Javari Temple, Khajuraho. He clarified that his words were misrepresented on social media and affirmed that he “respects all religions.” The bench had dismissed a plea for restoring a damaged seven-foot Vishnu idol, stating the issue falls under the Archaeological Survey of India’s (ASI) jurisdiction. CJI Gavai labeled the plea as “publicity interest litigation,” and suggested the devotee pray instead. In a major push for “jointness” and integration, the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force have decided to merge their education branches into a single Tri-Services Education Corps. The move was approved on the final day of the Combined Commanders’ Conference (CCC) 2025, held in Kolkata. Alongside, the establishment of three Joint Military Stations received the green light. These reforms aim to improve coordination, optimise infrastructure and manpower, and strengthen operational efficiency among the three services. The BJP has hit back at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi after his fresh allegations of voter fraud. Rahul accused the Election Commission of protecting “vote chors” and cited cases in Karnataka’s Aland and Maharashtra’s Rajura constituencies. BJP MP Anurag Thakur rejected the claims, saying Gandhi was misleading citizens and trying to create unrest like in Nepal and Bangladesh. He reminded that Congress had won Aland despite alleging vote deletions. The Election Commission also denied the charges, calling them false and baseless. The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has dismissed allegations of stock manipulation made by US-based short seller Hindenburg Research against Gautam Adani and Adani Group firms. In an official filing on Thursday, Sebi said its investigation could not establish any wrongdoing by Adani companies, including Adani Ports and Adani Power. The regulator confirmed that no liability or penalties would apply. Kamlesh C. Varshney, Sebi’s whole-time member, stated that the matter has been disposed of without directions. The US Embassy in New Delhi has revoked and denied visas to several Indian corporate heads, executives, and their families for alleged links to drug trafficking. Officials said those involved in trafficking fentanyl precursors will face lifelong bans from entering the US. Police in Ludhiana have uncovered a murder plot involving UK-based NRI Charanjit Singh Grewal and a local man, Sukhjeet Singh. Grewal met 71-year-old US citizen Rupinder Kaur Pandher on a matrimonial site. He took money from her and later lured her to Punjab. To avoid marrying her, Grewal offered Sukhjeet Rs 50 lakh and help to settle abroad if he killed her. In July, Sukhjeet beat Pandher to death with a baseball bat, burned her body, and dumped it in a drain. Police arrested him after his confession. Grewal, still abroad, has been charged in the case.
