Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Bengaluru on August 10 to inaugurate key infrastructure projects aimed at transforming the city’s connectivity. He flagged off three new Vande Bharat Express trains connecting Bengaluru–Belagavi, Amritsar–Vaishno Devi, and Nagpur–Pune raising India’s total to 150 such trains. Modi also inaugurated the 19.15 km Yellow Line of Namma Metro, linking RV Road to Bommasandra with 16 stations, built at a cost of ₹5,056 crore. Additionally, he laid the foundation stone for Phase-3 of the metro expansion, a ₹15,611 crore project adding 44.65 km and 31 stations. These developments are expected to ease traffic congestion, boost public transport, and improve daily commute for lakhs of Bengaluru residents.

On July 24, 2025, NASA’s Curiosity rover spotted a 1-inch-wide coral-shaped rock inside Mars’ Gale Crater. While not biological, its intricate branching structure formed billions of years ago when mineral-rich water seeped into rock fractures, leaving hardened deposits. Over time, wind and sand erosion stripped away softer material, revealing the resilient pattern. Scientists say this discovery adds to evidence that liquid water once existed on Mars, shaping its terrain. Similar formations, including the “Paposo” rock and a flower-like feature found in 2022, strengthen theories about Mars’ potentially habitable past.  

In a written reply to the Lok Sabha on August 8, 2025, Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh revealed that 206,378 Indians renounced their Indian citizenship in 2024 . This continuing trend follows 216,219 cases in 2023 and 225,620 in 2022, showing a slight decline in 2024 . The government underscored that individuals’ reasons for renunciation are personal and confidential. AIMIM President and Lok Sabha MP Asaduddin Owaisi has announced he will not watch the upcoming India-Pakistan Asia Cup match in Dubai, calling the notion of playing cricket amid the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack "painful" and "horrific". On August 9, 2025, London witnessed its largest mass arrests in over a decade as police detained more than 470 protesters during a demonstration against the UK’s ban on Palestine Action, labeled a terrorist organization by the government. Around 1,000 people gathered in Parliament Square, many supporting the banned group. The Metropolitan Police cited arrests for supporting a proscribed organization and other offenses, including assaults on officers. The White House is contemplating inviting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to a summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin scheduled for August 15 in Alaska. While the invitation is not finalized, senior officials suggest Zelenskyy's attendance is a strong possibility. The summit aims to negotiate an end to the 41-month-long war in Ukraine. However, Zelenskyy has firmly rejected any territorial concessions, emphasizing that Ukraine will not cede land to Russia. European leaders have also stressed that Ukraine must be directly involved in any peace negotiations. 

Pakistan's Ministry of Defence reported a loss of nearly ₹127 crore in overflying revenue from April 24 to June 30, 2025, following the closure of its airspace to Indian airlines. This action was taken in response to India's suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. While the Defence Ministry acknowledged the revenue shortfall, it emphasized that sovereignty and national defense priorities outweighed economic considerations.
