A SkyWest (Delta Connection) flight from Omaha to Detroit on July 17, 2025, made an emergency diversion to Cedar Rapids after passenger Mario Nikprelaj, 23, fought with a flight attendant and tried opening an emergency exit mid‑air. He reportedly threatened to kill the crew member. The pilot alerted air traffic control that the passenger was "in a fight with our flight attendant right now, trying to open the emergency exit" . Three crew and 67 passengers remained unharmed. On landing, Nikprelaj was arrested, facing federal charges including assault and interference with crew. A Delta Air Lines Boeing 767‑400ER (flight DL446) departing LAX for Atlanta experienced an engine fire shortly after takeoff on July 18, 2025. Video captured flames erupting from the left-hand engine as the aircraft climbed to approximately 3,000 feet. The crew declared an emergency and executed an immediate return to Los Angeles, where fire crews extinguished the blaze upon landing. No injuries were reported. A massive scandal has erupted in Thailand after 35-year-old Wilawan Emsawat, known as "Ms Golf", was arrested for extorting nearly 385 million baht (approx. ₹100 crore) from Buddhist monks. Emsawat allegedly had sexual relations with multiple monks and secretly filmed the encounters. She used over 80,000 explicit videos and photos to blackmail senior members of the clergy for years. The scandal has led to several monks being defrocked or fleeing. Police have launched a wider investigation into monastic corruption, seizing luxury goods and files, and prompting calls for stricter oversight of Thailand’s powerful Buddhist establishment. On July 19, 2025, a tourist boat named Wonder Sea capsized in Vietnam’s iconic Ha Long Bay during a sudden thunderstorm. The vessel was carrying 53 people, including 48 tourists, when it overturned near Dau Go Cave around 1:45 p.m. local time. So far, 34 bodies have been recovered and 11 people rescued, including a 14-year-old boy who survived four hours trapped beneath the hull. Eight people remain missing. A shocking incident occurred at Mirzapur railway station in Uttar Pradesh, where a CRPF jawan was brutally assaulted by a group of Kanwariyas on July 18, 2025. A dispute reportedly erupted over train seat arrangements, following which the Kanwariyas dragged the jawan to the platform, kicking and punching him repeatedly. Disturbing CCTV footage showed bystanders not intervening during the attack. The Railway Protection Force swiftly registered an FIR and arrested seven individuals involved.
