The Supreme Court slammed the Karnataka High Court on Tuesday for allowing a ban on Kamal Haasan’s film Thug Life, calling it a threat to rule of law. The top court criticized the violent protests over Haasan’s remark that “Kannada was born from Tamil,” stating, “Hooligans can’t dictate cinema.” The bench said the film, cleared by the censor board, must be released nationwide and gave Karnataka one day to respond. An IndiGo flight from Kochi to Delhi made an emergency landing in Nagpur on Tuesday morning after a bomb threat was received via email, according to CIAL. The aircraft, which had arrived from Muscat and departed Kochi at 9:31 am with 157 passengers and 6 crew members, was diverted after the threat was deemed “specific” by the Bomb Threat Assessment Committee. Authorities immediately began a full inspection of the plane upon landing. CIAL stated the necessary security checks are underway, and the aircraft will resume its journey to Delhi once cleared.
