A 25-year-old woman, Deepika Nagar, died after allegedly falling from the roof of her in-laws’ house in Greater Noida’s Jalpura area on Sunday night. Her family alleged she was harassed for dowry and accused her husband and in-laws of murder. The victim’s father claimed he had given Rs 11 lakh cash, gold worth Rs 50 lakh and a Scorpio car during the wedding in December 2024, but the in-laws later demanded Rs 51 lakh and a Fortuner SUV. The Supreme Court on Monday expressed serious reservations about its January 2026 order denying bail to former JNU student leader Umar Khalid in the Delhi riots conspiracy case. A bench of Justice BV Nagarathna and Justice Ujjal Bhuyan said the earlier ruling failed to properly apply the 2021 KA Najeeb judgment, which allows bail in UAPA cases involving prolonged incarceration and delayed trials. The court warned against turning pre-trial detention into punishment and reiterated that “bail is the rule, jail is the exception” even under UAPA. Congress leader V D Satheesan took oath as Kerala Chief Minister on Monday at the Central Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, marking the return of the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) to power after a decade. Kirti Azad and Mahua Moitra publicly expressed interest in joining the platform, which describes itself as a voice for unemployed and chronically online youth. The CBI conducted an eight-hour raid at the Nanded residence of Bhaurao Kadam in Maharashtra as part of the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak investigation. Officials alleged that Kadam paid Rs 5 lakh to obtain the leaked question paper for his daughter before the May 3 exam. During the search, investigators examined documents, questioned family members and traced the source of the leaked paper and payment details. The probe is focusing on a wider Maharashtra-based network linked to Pune, Latur and Nanded. NEET-UG 2026 was cancelled after allegations of a leak, and the re-exam is scheduled for June 21. Tushar Kumar, a 23-year-old councillor, has become the youngest Indian-origin mayor in the history of the United Kingdom after being appointed Mayor of Elstree and Borehamwood. Two US Navy EA-18G Growler jets collided mid-air during an aerial demonstration at the Gunfighter Skies air show in Idaho on Sunday. All four crew members safely ejected before the aircraft crashed near Mountain Home Air Force Base, officials said. Videos from spectators showed the jets appearing to touch before spiralling downward and exploding on impact. The injured crew members were reported to be in stable condition. The air show was immediately cancelled after the crash. The US Navy has launched an investigation into the incident, while aviation experts said formation flying leaves little room for error during such performances.

An Adelaide court in Australia sentenced Indian-origin massage therapist Sumit Satish Rastogi to 13 years and 10 months in prison for sexually abusing 61 women over nine months at a massage parlour. Rastogi pleaded guilty to 97 offences, including aggravated indecent assault and indecent filming, committed between 2021 and 2022. Judge Carmen Matteo described his conduct as “out of control” and “exploitative”, saying victims were “trusting, unsuspecting and entitled to safety”.
