The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case in the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak matter after the Centre cancelled the medical entrance exam over irregularities. National Testing Agency Director General Abhishek Singh said the schedule for the re-examination will be announced within seven to 10 days. He added that candidates will not have to pay fresh fees or register again for the re-test. The exam, conducted on May 3 for nearly 22.79 lakh students across India and abroad, was scrapped after leaked PDFs of question papers surfaced online, triggering protests and political attacks over exam integrity. At least 269 people were killed after Pakistani airstrikes hit the Omid Drug Rehabilitation Centre in Kabul on March 16, according to a UN report. Families of victims say recovering addicts and staff members were among the dead, rejecting Pakistan’s claim that only militant targets were struck. Many bodies were burned or torn apart, forcing relatives to identify loved ones through clothes or birthmarks. The rehabilitation centre, operating since 2016, was widely known in Kabul. Iran has warned that it may enrich uranium to 90 per cent purity if attacked again by the United States or Israel. Iranian lawmaker Ebrahim Rezaei said this option would be considered by parliament. Uranium enriched to 90 per cent is considered weapons-grade. The International Atomic Energy Agency says Iran already has 440.9 kilograms of uranium enriched to 60 per cent purity. K. C. Venugopal has emerged as the leading contender for the post of Chief Minister of Kerala. During a meeting with Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi, seven out of ten senior Congress leaders reportedly supported Venugopal. V. D. Satheesan received support from two leaders, while one remained neutral. The Congress-led UDF won 102 of 140 seats in the Kerala Assembly election. India on Tuesday responded strongly to reports that China provided technical support to Pakistan during Operation Sindoor. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said responsible countries should consider how such actions affect their global reputation. The operation was launched after the Pahalgam terror attack in 2025, in which 26 tourists were killed. Reports said Chinese engineers helped Pakistan operate Chinese-made fighter jets during the conflict. Rajinikanth declined to comment when asked about Joseph Vijay becoming the new Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. At Chennai airport on Tuesday, Rajinikanth smiled, folded his hands and walked away without speaking to reporters. Earlier, he had congratulated Vijay and his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), on their election victory. TVK won 108 seats and secured support from 120 MLAs in the 234-member Assembly. Vijay took oath as Chief Minister on May 10 after his party emerged as the single largest party in the state.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer told his cabinet he would “get on with governing” despite mounting pressure from within the Labour Party to step down after the party’s poor election performance.   The crisis deepened after a government minister resigned and 78 Labour MPs either demanded Starmer’s immediate resignation or asked him to set a departure timetable. Reports suggest divisions have also emerged within the cabinet over his future.   Senior minister Darren Jones dismissed speculation about Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham replacing Starmer, calling such discussions “fantasy politics”.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay has appointed his longtime astrologer and spiritual advisor, Radhan Pandit Vettrivel, as Officer on Special Duty (Political) to the Chief Minister following the TVK government’s formation.   Vettrivel, who reportedly advised Vijay on the “auspicious” timing for his swearing-in ceremony, has remained closely associated with the actor-turned-politician throughout his political journey. Known in Tamil Nadu political circles for advising several senior leaders, including former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, Vettrivel had publicly predicted TVK’s strong electoral performance before the Assembly polls.
