Social media platform X has suspended the account of American Hindus for Engagement and Dialogue (AHEAD), the organisers of an upcoming New York event featuring RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. The suspension comes a day after New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani said he did not support the RSS or the planned event but added that the city had no authority to cancel it. Pakistan activated spies and sleeper cells inside India to locate the country’s S-400 air defence systems during Operation Sindoor, former Western Air Command chief Air Marshal Jeetendra Mishra has said. Mishra said the Russian-made systems became a major threat to Pakistan’s air operations, keeping its fighter jets far from the Indian border. He said Pakistan also used other means, including satellite assistance, to track the systems. Mishra further revealed that women fighter pilots carried out multiple combat missions during the conflict, striking terror targets before later targeting Pakistani airbases and command-and-control centres. The NCLT has approved a repayment plan for Zee founder Subhash Chandra that will allow creditors to recover around Rs 6.5 crore against admitted claims of Rs 22,006.57 crore. The plan, backed by creditors holding 80.81% of the voting share, results in a haircut of nearly 99.97%. Several lenders opposed the proposal, including LIC Housing Finance, which had claimed more than Rs 1,322 crore. The tribunal said it could not replace the commercial decision of the majority of creditors with its own judgment. The case arose from Chandra's personal guarantee for a Rs 170-crore loan.  

At least 65 Americans and 25 Canadians are among hundreds missing after devastating flash floods and mudslides near the Nepal-Tibet border, Nepali authorities said. More than 350 people have been confirmed dead, while over 500 tourists from 28 countries remain unaccounted for. The US and Canadian governments said they were working with local authorities to assist affected citizens. Scientists believe a landslide, possibly linked to a glacier collapse, triggered the disaster, which swept away homes, roads and bridges in Nepal's Rasuwa district and surrounding areas. (PC: BBC)

China has warned that a barrier lake near its border with Nepal could breach within the next three days, raising fears of fresh flooding downstream. The lake, formed near the confluence of the Chhochen Khola and Purepu Tsangpo rivers, is considered at high risk of bursting, authorities said. The warning comes as devastating flash floods in the Nepal-China border region have already killed hundreds and left thousands missing or unaccounted for. Emergency teams are monitoring the lake as rescue operations continue in areas hit by the disaster.

Anaya Bangar, daughter of former India cricketer Sanjay Bangar, has said she will be eligible to play elite women’s cricket in Australia from March 2027 after receiving approval from Cricket Australia. The decision means Anaya can pursue opportunities in competitions including the Women’s Big Bash League, although she will still need to secure a contract. Cricket Australia requires eligible players to maintain serum testosterone levels below 10 nmol/L for at least 12 months. A 61-year-old woman from West Bengal escaped the devastating Nepal flash floods after her Chinese visa for the Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage was rejected. Tapati Singha was among 33 people from the state planning the 13-day journey through a Kolkata-based travel agency. After her visa was denied, she changed her plans and travelled to Ladakh instead. The remaining 32 members of the group are now missing, with no information about their whereabouts. The travel agency’s Nepal-based partner has been unable to contact the travellers, while four agency officials have travelled to Nepal to gather information. (PC: NDTV)

Devastating flash floods in Nepal have killed at least 332 people, while nearly 1,500 people remain missing across Nepal and Tibet. India said 288 of its nationals are still out of contact, including 73 workers at a power project in Trishuli. However, 21 missing Indians from Tamil Nadu have been rescued and are being brought back home. The Ministry of External Affairs said more than 200 Indians have sought evacuation assistance, with many stranded in Tibet. The floods, possibly triggered by an ice avalanche near a Himalayan river, have destroyed settlements and severely damaged roads, bridges and hydropower projects. (PC: India Today)

India will face Uruguay in an international friendly in Kolkata on September 6, as the Blue Tigers prepare for a historic clash against five-time world champions Brazil next month. The match against Uruguay will give India another major test against top international opposition. Two workers at Germany’s Frankfurt Airport have died after contracting malaria in a rare airport-linked outbreak, public health officials said. Six male employees working in different areas of the airport were infected. Authorities believe malaria-carrying mosquitoes may have arrived on an aircraft, though laboratory tests are underway to confirm their species and origin. Mosquito traps have been installed across the airport as investigators examine how the workers became infected. Officials said the risk to the wider public remains very low, as malaria is not spread directly from person to person but through infected mosquitoes. (PC: BBC)
