Police investigating the killings of a Hindu family of four in Bangladesh’s Rangpur have revealed disturbing details about the crime. Two detained suspects allegedly consumed drugs before and after the killings, stayed inside the house, showered and ate food before trying to stage the crime as a robbery. Investigators said the suspects also burnt the faces of the four victims with chemicals. Retired teacher Ganapati Chakraborty, his wife Pritilata, daughter Agami and 12-year-old son Priyam were found dead inside their locked home. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his recent remarks on Manusmriti, saying Gandhi “disparages India’s traditions and heritage.” Speaking in Raebareli, Yogi said the Leader of the Opposition should show greater accountability towards democracy and the country. A 56-year-old Indian shop owner from Gujarat was shot dead during an armed robbery at his newly opened store in Jackson, Tennessee, police said. The victim, Suresh Parsottamdas Patel from Mehsana, was shot multiple times after a masked gunman entered Ridgecrest Cellars on August 20 and demanded cash. Patel's 19-year-old daughter was standing beside him when he was shot, reports said. A 70-year-old employee also broke her wrist after falling during the incident. Harry Kane has become the first Englishman to win Germany's Footballer of the Year award. Heavy rain and thunderstorms disrupted flight operations at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport on Monday, forcing 15 incoming flights to divert. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay announced three free LPG cylinders annually for families earning below Rs 2.5 lakh, starting from Pongal 2027. The Annapoorani Super Six scheme is expected to benefit around 1.30 crore families and cost the state Rs 4,000 crore annually. Vijay also announced free bus travel for transgender persons and expanded free travel for women to include Express, LSS, Deluxe and inter-district government buses.
