A 21-year-old man was shot and killed after entering the inner security perimeter of former US President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida. The US Secret Service said the incident happened at about 01:30 local time. Officers spotted the man near the north gate carrying a shotgun and a fuel can. Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said officers ordered him to drop the items. “He dropped the can and raised the shotgun to a firing position,” Bradshaw said. Agents then fired to “neutralise the threat.” US media identified him as Austin T. Martin of North Carolina. Trump was not in Florida. The FBI is leading the investigation. (PC: BBC)

India were close to a heavy defeat against South Africa in their Super 8 match of the T20 World Cup 2026 in Ahmedabad. Chasing 188, India slipped to 101 for 8 in 15.5 overs. Keshav Maharaj removed Hardik Pandya and Rinku Singh in three balls. Hardik was caught at long-off, while Rinku fell at long-on. Earlier, South Africa posted 187 for 7 after choosing to bat. The Indian Air Force has lost another Tejas Light Combat Aircraft in an accident earlier this month. The jet was landing at a key air base after a routine training sortie. Sources said a suspected technical fault may have caused the incident. The aircraft suffered heavy airframe damage and could be written off. The pilot ejected safely and did not suffer serious injuries.   This is the third Tejas jet lost since induction. The first crash took place near Jaisalmer in March 2024. The second happened during the Dubai Airshow in November 2025, when the pilot was killed. The IAF has not issued an official statement so far. (PC: India Today)

National security agencies have arrested eight men for allegedly planning a terror attack in India. Officials said the group had suspected links to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence and Bangladesh-based outfits. Six suspects were picked up from Uthukuli, Palladam and Thirumuruganpoondi in Tamil Nadu. Two others were detained earlier in related action. Some of the accused are believed to be Bangladeshi nationals. Delhi Police said the operation followed an inquiry into online posts supporting terror groups. The accused were allegedly using fake Aadhaar cards and working in Tiruppur garment units. Police seized eight phones and 16 SIM cards. Officials said the investigation is ongoing. (PC: X)

David Miller made 63 off 35 balls. Dewald Brevis scored 45 off 29. The pair added 97 runs to steady the innings.   India captain Suryakumar Yadav made key bowling changes during the middle overs.   Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets in the match. He equalled Ravichandran Ashwin’s record for most wickets by an Indian in T20 World Cups. India need 188 runs to win.

A Delhi court on Saturday sent four Indian Youth Congress workers to five days of police custody over their protest at the AI Impact Summit.   The court said the act “imperils not merely the event’s sanctity but also the Republic’s diplomatic image before foreign stakeholders.” It added that the conduct went beyond “legitimate dissent.”   Police had arrested the workers for allegedly breaching security at Bharat Mandapam and raising anti-national slogans. Sources said the handler of the recently busted Lashkar-e-Taiba module was in direct touch with top leaders, including 26/11 Mumbai attacks mastermind Hafiz Saeed.   The handler, Shabbir Ahmad Lone, is a Kashmiri militant now based in Bangladesh. Officials believe he guided the eight suspects arrested by Delhi Police.   Sources said Lone had been in contact with Saeed and Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi since 2007. Proof of these links was found during his earlier arrest.   Investigators also suspect support from Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence. The eight suspects were held in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. Phones and SIM cards seized are being examined.

Pakistan launched overnight air strikes in eastern Afghanistan. The Taliban said at least 18 people, including women and children, were killed.   Islamabad said the strikes hit seven militant camps near the border. It called them “intelligence based selective targeting” after recent suicide attacks in Pakistan.   Afghan officials said homes and a religious school were hit in Nangarhar and Paktika provinces. A local resident said 18 members of one family died in Nangarhar.   Pakistan blamed the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan and said Kabul failed to act against militants. The Taliban called the strikes a “blatant violation” and warned of a response. (PC: BBC)
