Singapore authorities have clarified that popular Indian singer Zubeen Garg’s death last September was accidental, not murder, the coroner’s court heard. The 52-year-old drowned near Lazarus Island after going for a swim from a yacht, despite refusing to wear a life jacket offered to him; he initially removed one that was too large and declined a smaller one. Police described him as “severely intoxicated,” with high alcohol levels likely impeding his coordination. Investigators found no evidence of foul play. Garg had been in Singapore for the North East India Festival and died a day before his scheduled performance.

Netflix has completed 10 years in India, changing how audiences watch content and how stars are made. Launched quietly in 2016, Netflix introduced binge-watching and focused on stories over big names. Shows like Sacred Games helped supporting actors gain fame. The platform also opened doors for new writers, directors, and creators. Netflix reduced subscription prices to reach more users but kept its premium image. It brought global content to Indian screens and pushed Indian stories worldwide. Industry voices say Netflix weakened Bollywood’s star system and made space for talent-driven work. Thalapathy Vijay's upcoming film Jana Nayagan has received certification from the UK's British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) with a '15' rating, while still awaiting clearance from India's Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The UK certificate restricts the film to viewers aged 15 and above due to strong language, frequent violence, sexual activity, and drug misuse. With the film scheduled for theatrical release on January 9, 2026, the makers have filed a petition at Madras High Court seeking CBFC certification. The UK clearance allows the film's release in British markets, but the ongoing battle with India's censor board continues just days before the planned premiere. (PC: Times Now)
