Soren challenged BJP to prove corruption charges, vowing to quit politics if proven.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized the Congress party, accusing it of embracing a 'cancel culture' by opposing key government initiatives like Make in India and Vocal for Local. Addressing the Lok Sabha ahead of the 2024 polls, PM Modi emphasized the need for unity and support for schemes promoting self-reliance. Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren alleged Governor involvement in his January 31 arrest by the Enforcement Directorate during an assembly speech. Soren, addressing the assembly after court permission to participate in a trust vote, labeled his arrest a "dark chapter in India's democracy." Jharkhand CM Champai Soren gave Soren a clean chit, stating his arrest was unjust. Hemant Soren challenged the Enforcement Directorate to prove his connection to the alleged land scam. The development adds to the political tension in Jharkhand, as Soren's remarks raise questions about the role of the Governor in his arrest.

Aam Aadmi Party's Sanjay Singh, incarcerated since October over an ED probe into Delhi's excise policy, won't be sworn in as Rajya Sabha MP. The Chairman cited the matter's referral to the Privileges Committee for denying Singh's oath-taking. Despite court permission, Singh remains incarcerated, with his interim bail plea dismissed. Singh's lawyer indicated his unpressed plea due to another court appearance. The ED is investigating alleged money laundering linked to Delhi's excise policy. AAP refutes allegations of favoritism in the policy. Singh's party colleague, Manish Sisodia, also faces imprisonment in the same case since March.          

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh rebuked Mamata Banerjee's skepticism about Congress's electoral prospects, emphasizing unity against the BJP. Amidst Mamata's questioning of Congress's ability to secure seats, Ramesh stressed, "Our priority is also to fight the BJP. I think it is better if we all come together." He highlighted past alliances and called for solidarity despite recent rifts, stating, "We were together in Patna, in Bengaluru and Mumbai." Responding to Mamata's challenge, Ramesh affirmed, "We will definitely go to Uttar Pradesh." His remarks underscore the ongoing dialogue within opposition ranks ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

Champai Soren, acting CM in Hemant Soren's absence, will face the test, supported by Congress and others. Despite dissent from JMM's Lobin Hembrom over lavish resort stay for MLAs, the coalition remains confident. Hemant Soren, arrested by the ED, will participate in the voting. Discussions include possible induction of Basant Soren into the cabinet. In 2022, Hemant won a trust vote with 48 MLAs. Amidst legal battles, including Hemant's petition against ED arrest, the coalition maintains unity for the crucial test.

As Jharkhand's ruling coalition faces a crucial trust vote, 37 MLAs, including members of JMM, Congress, and RJD, are flying back to Ranchi from Hyderabad. The move comes amid fears of poaching, following JMM leader Hemant Soren's arrest in a money laundering case. The legislators, who were stationed in Shamiret, Hyderabad, since February 2, are returning ahead of the floor test scheduled for Monday. Security measures were in place to safeguard against potential poaching attempts by the BJP. With Chief Minister Champai Soren reviewing the state's law and order situation, the coalition prepares for the trust vote in the Assembly.

In response to allegations of MLA poaching by AAP, Delhi Police's Crime Branch visited Atishi Marlena's residence, following a similar visit to Arvind Kejriwal's home. Atishi, the Delhi Minister of Education, was not present, but her camp office accepted the notice. Last week, Kejriwal accused the BJP of offering money to AAP MLAs to defect, triggering police action. Atishi also claimed the BJP's "Operation Lotus 2.0" aimed to topple the Delhi government. BJP urged a probe into Kejriwal's claims, dismissing them as sensational falsehoods. The investigation intensifies amid political tensions in Delhi.

Gaikwad also criticizes Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde, accusing him of fostering criminality. Opposition demands Shinde's resignation, citing law-and-order concerns.
