The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved a project worth over ₹40,000 crore to build eight Next-Generation Corvettes for the Indian Navy. The warships will be constructed by Kolkata-based Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) and Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL). Each vessel will weigh approximately 2,000 tonnes, achieve speeds of around 30 knots and feature an indigenous stealth design. They will support anti-surface, anti-submarine and anti-air warfare, maritime surveillance and coastal defence. With over 70% indigenous content, the project will strengthen India's naval capabilities and domestic defence manufacturing. The first warship is expected by 2030. (PC: India Today)

Mumbai Police’s Crime Branch has arrested the 12th accused, identified as Aman, from Rohna village in Haryana’s Sonipat district in connection with the October 18 firing incident involving Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff. Investigators suspect Aman transferred money received from an alleged Lawrence Bishnoi gang operative to another accused, Kunal, potentially to finance the weapon used in the attack. Police are examining suspicious bank transactions and financial links to establish his role. The firing occurred outside a football club in Mumbai’s Juhu area. Tiger Shroff escaped unharmed, while his driver and a bystander sustained injuries. MCOCA provisions have been invoked against the accused.

Bihar Museum in Patna has secured ninth place on the World’s 100 Best Museums 2026 list, making it Asia’s highest-ranked museum and the only Indian institution featured in the ranking. The list was released by travel guide Worth a Journey. The museum, inaugurated in 2015, showcases Bihar’s rich cultural heritage through ancient sculptures, historical artefacts, coins, manuscripts and folk art. Designed by Japanese architect Fumihiko Maki in collaboration with Opolis Architects, it has emerged as an important cultural landmark. CCTV footage has revealed the sequence of events in an alleged murder plot in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. Priya Sharma and her alleged partner, gym trainer Pratap Singh, have been arrested for allegedly conspiring to kill her husband, Shashank Kantharia. On October 26, Priya was seen leaving their Vasundhara home before Pratap allegedly entered and stabbed Shashank while he was sleeping. Neighbours chased and caught Pratap as he fled. Shashank was rushed to hospital with serious injuries. Police suspect the alleged affair and Shashank’s plans to move out motivated the attack. 

Three siblings, aged 48, 50 and 52, were found dead inside their locked flat in the Global City residential complex in Virar West, Maharashtra, on October 29, 2026. The deceased were identified as Kumar Mehta, Deepesh Mehta and their sister Khevna Mehta. Police were alerted after residents noticed a foul smell coming from the apartment. Preliminary investigations suggest suspected suicide by poisoning, with serious health problems and financial difficulties being examined as possible factors. The Supreme Court has said banks must compensate victims of “digital arrest” scams if investigations find that a failure in due diligence by financial institutions led to the fraud. A bench led by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant stressed that banks must take steps to stop suspicious transactions before money is transferred. The court called for safeguards, including temporary holds on unusual transactions, automated alerts and verification of suspicious activity. It will examine the Reserve Bank of India’s proposed KYC Amendment Directions, 2026, expected by November 30. The court noted that digital fraud losses had reached nearly ₹800 crore this year. Nearly Rs 35 crore has allegedly gone missing from savings accounts and fixed deposits at a Punjab National Bank (PNB) branch in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Several customers claim that money was transferred without their consent and that they received no transaction alerts. The affected accounts include funds received as compensation for acquired land. One farmer said his account balance fell from around Rs 88 lakh to just Rs 1 lakh. Another customer reported that Rs 39 lakh had disappeared. Following complaints, PNB suspended several employees, including the branch manager. Police have registered a case, and investigations are underway. (PC: News18)
