Students at Jamia Millia Islamia in New Delhi are continuing their protest demanding the restoration of the students’ union and a clear schedule for elections. The union was dissolved in 2006, and polls have not been held since. Protesters have also called for the release of detained students and the resignation of the university’s chief proctor. Meanwhile, the university has extended online classes until November 24 and shifted odd-semester examinations online amid campus tensions. The administration has said elections will be held within 15 days of approval of the union constitution. However, students want a firm timeline for the process. (PC: India Today)
