Delhi Police have arrested Lashkar-e-Taiba operative Shabbir Ahmed Lone after a month-long operation. Officers said he was running a cross-border network from Bangladesh. He had set up a base in Kolkata to support activities in Delhi. Police said recruits, including Bangladeshi nationals, were sent to paste anti-national posters as a test. They later carried out recce of Kalkaji temple and Gauri Shankar temple. “Lone was the mastermind behind the module,” said additional CP Pramod Kushwaha. After earlier arrests, Lone re-entered India via Nepal to rebuild the network. He is now in five-day police remand. (PC: X)

Eight women died and several others were injured in a stampede at Shitala Mata Temple in Bihar’s Nalanda on Tuesday morning. The incident happened due to heavy crowding during a religious gathering. Police and local officials rushed to the spot and began rescue work.   Assistant Superintendent of Police Noorul Haque said, “At least eight women died in the stampede… rescue work is on.”   Eyewitnesses blamed poor management and said the last Tuesday of Chaitra led to a bigger rush.   The Bihar government has ordered a probe and asked the Chief Secretary to investigate. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced Rs 6 lakh compensation for each victim’s family. (PC: India Today)

Indian rally legend Hari Singh, known as the “Gypsy King,” is presumed dead after an eight-day search in the Maldives failed following a speedboat accident near Felidhoo Island. Authorities deployed divers, drones, aircraft and boats but found no trace of Singh or the boat captain. Businessman Gautam Singhania survived the incident. With search operations called off, Singh’s family held final prayers in Chandigarh, attended by hundreds from the motorsport community. Delhi Police has arrested a 47-year-old man from Mysuru for allegedly sending over 1,100 hoax bomb threats across India. The accused, Srinivas Louis, was caught from his rented home in Karnataka after a joint operation with local police. Officials said the threats targeted schools, high courts, and government offices. The arrest comes after recent messages sent to the Delhi High Court, Assembly, and other institutions. Police said the accused was produced before a magistrate after his arrest. The Indian rupee weakened past 95 against the US dollar for the first time on March 30. It touched a record low of 95.20, down 0.3% during the day. The fall came despite recent steps by the Reserve Bank of India to control volatility. The RBI had asked banks to cap open forex positions at $100 million. The move aimed to reduce speculation, but analysts said pressure remains strong. Foreign outflows and high oil prices continue to weigh on the currency. A rare moment was seen in the Meghalaya Assembly when Mehtab Chandee A Sangma questioned her husband, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, during Question Hour. She asked about delays in setting up a veterinary college and two fisheries colleges approved in 2022. She also raised concerns over staff shortages. The Chief Minister said the projects are needed as “a large population” depends on livestock. He admitted shortages are “a matter of concern” and said steps are being taken. He added land has been identified and work will be fast-tracked. The exchange followed Assembly rules and later went viral online.

A passenger on IndiGo flight 6E-185 from Bengaluru to Varanasi attempted to open the emergency exit door moments before landing, forcing the pilot to execute a go-around. The aircraft later landed safely at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport around 10:35 pm. The accused, Mohammad Adnan, 26, had earlier tried to tamper with the exit shortly after takeoff but was restrained by crew. He initially claimed he was under a “ghost’s influence” before saying he was unaware of the consequences. Over 100 passengers panicked. He was booked under Section 125 and later released to his parents; investigation continues. 

Members of the queer community and civil groups held a protest march in Lucknow against the Transgender Amendment Bill, 2026. The march began at Begum Hazrat Mahal Park and ended near KD Singh Babu Stadium Metro Station. Protesters said the Bill allows too much state control over identity. They raised slogans for equality and freedom. Many students, youth and women joined the march. Groups like AISA, SFI and others supported the protest. A memorandum was sent to President Droupadi Murmu. Protesters said the Bill goes against the Supreme Court’s NALSA judgment and threatens the rights and dignity of transgender people.
