The Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) has launched an inquiry into allegations of misappropriation of donations and offerings at Badrinath Dham following claims circulating on social media. BKTC Chairman Hemant Dwivedi said show-cause notices have been issued to employees involved in donation counting, and an inquiry committee has been formed to examine CCTV footage, records, and staff statements. Dwivedi also clarified that a person described online as his “personal secretary” is a regular committee employee. Authorities have assured that strict legal and departmental action will be taken if any financial irregularities are confirmed, while urging the public not to spread unverified information. India's food safety regulator, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), has issued notices to Red Bull, PepsiCo and several other beverage companies over alleged violations in the labelling and marketing of energy drinks. The regulator is scrutinising claims, ingredient disclosures and compliance with food safety regulations to ensure consumers are not misled. Companies have been asked to clarify their labelling practices and respond to the notices. India has reiterated that the Indus Waters Treaty will remain in abeyance until Pakistan takes credible and irreversible steps to end support for cross-border terrorism. Responding to Pakistan's criticism, the Ministry of External Affairs said New Delhi's position remains unchanged and stressed that the treaty was signed in good faith but has been undermined by decades of terrorism and hostile actions. The statement comes amid heightened diplomatic tensions and follows recent international discussions on combating terrorism. Pakistan has opposed India's stance, while the decades-old water-sharing agreement continues to be a major point of contention between the two neighbours. 

India recorded one of its driest Junes since 1901, with rainfall nearly 40% below normal, prompting Union Home Minister Amit Shah to review the country's drought preparedness. Chairing a high-level meeting, Shah directed the Agriculture, Water Resources and Power ministries to coordinate with states and remain vigilant as the India Meteorological Department forecasts below-normal rainfall in July. He stressed the need to advise farmers on suitable crops, monitor reservoir levels and ensure uninterrupted electricity supply. 5 people died after an LPG tanker crashed and caught fire near a toll plaza in Uttar Pradesh's Kaushambi district. The tanker was travelling from Kanpur to Varanasi when it hit a divider, causing a gas leak and a massive fire. Driver Dharmendra Dwivedi died after getting trapped inside the burning vehicle. Several toll workers also suffered serious burns. Four later died during treatment, taking the death toll to five. Two injured workers are still in hospital. Police have started an investigation into the incident. CCTV footage showed the tanker crashing moments before the fire broke out.

The Centre has summoned Meta officials after a BBC report claimed that Instagram displayed ads promoting child sexual abuse material in India. Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw directed the ministry to seek an explanation from the company. The government will ask how such ads appeared on Instagram and what steps Meta is taking to stop them. The BBC said it found ads with disturbing titles that were linked to Telegram channels selling illegal content for ₹99. Meta, which owns Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp, has not yet responded publicly. The government is expected to review the company's safety measures.

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has demanded strict action in the alleged Ayodhya Ram Temple donation theft case. In a statement, the RSS said the incident has "deeply hurt the sentiments" of millions of devotees. It added that "anyone found guilty" should receive the strictest punishment under the law. The Uttar Pradesh government has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the case. Eight people have been arrested so far. The SIT is also rechecking the temple trust's financial records from the past five years. The investigation is continuing, and more questioning is expected.

Air India has reduced fuel surcharges on select long-haul international routes, including North America, Europe, the UK, and Australia, following a recent decline in global crude oil and aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices. The airline stated that easing fuel costs have allowed it to lower the additional charges imposed on tickets, which were previously raised during periods of high oil prices and geopolitical disruptions. The reduction is expected to make international air travel more affordable, as fuel surcharges form a significant part of ticket prices. Industry reports suggest cuts of up to 39% on some routes, offering relief to passengers planning long-haul travel.
