The National Testing Agency (NTA) is evaluating answer sheets for the Re-NEET 2026 exam. More than 10,000 objections to the provisional answer key are being reviewed by experts before the final result is announced. The re-exam was held on June 21 for over 20 lakh candidates after the original test was cancelled over a paper leak. "Results would also be processed faster than one would expect," NTA Director General Abhishek Singh said. Tamil Nadu will now buy only air-conditioned government buses, Transport Minister Vijay Tamilan Parthiban said. He said Chief Minister Vijay wants people to travel comfortably and improve bus services across the state. "The Chief Minister wants the public to travel extensively and comfortably in air-conditioned vehicles," Parthiban said. He added that even remote areas should have good bus connectivity. Last week, the state launched 300 new government buses, including diesel and CNG models. A 26-foot baby humpback whale died after washing ashore on the rocky Bandra coastline in Mumbai. The whale was spotted near Carter Road on Saturday morning. Rescue teams from the Forest Department, BMC, Fire Brigade and wildlife experts rushed to save it. They tried to help the whale return to deeper waters. However, the animal stopped moving and was later declared dead. Officials will investigate the cause of the stranding and death. The whale's body will be examined before burial as per wildlife rules. Humpback whales migrate through the Arabian Sea during certain seasons.

The Central government will remove temporary restrictions on petrol and diesel sales from July 1. The curbs were introduced to protect fuel supplies during the US-Israel conflict with Iran and concerns over the Strait of Hormuz. Commercial buyers were not allowed to buy fuel from retail pumps, and limits were placed on diesel purchases. With fuel supplies improving, the government has decided to end the restrictions. Commercial LPG supplies have also returned to normal levels. However, industries and businesses that have already switched to Piped Natural Gas (PNG) will not be allowed to return to LPG.

The Faizabad Bar Association has decided that its members will not represent the eight people arrested in the Ram temple donation theft case. The decision was taken during a general body meeting on Monday. The association said the alleged theft had hurt the feelings of lawyers. It also announced a fine of ₹5 lakh for any member who defends the accused. The lawyers further demanded action against three members of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. They warned of protests if their demands are not met within three days.

India has successfully tested its first green hydrogen-powered train on the Jind-Sonipat route. The train reached a top speed of 120 kmph during trials. It will run at 75 kmph in regular service. The train uses hydrogen fuel cells to produce electricity and releases only water vapour, making it environment-friendly. It can travel about 250 km on one refill. The project is part of Indian Railways' plan to reduce carbon emissions. The hydrogen train is expected to run on routes that are difficult to electrify. Passenger service will begin after final approval.

The Supreme Court on Monday declined to fast-track a batch of Public Interest Litigations (PILs) seeking a CBI investigation into alleged financial irregularities and misuse of public donations at the Ayodhya Ram Temple. A vacation bench of Justices M.M. Sundresh and Sheel Nagu said the matter would be heard after the court resumes regular functioning. Petitioners argued that electronic evidence, including CCTV footage and DVR records, could be tampered with if the hearing was delayed. India has achieved a major clean energy milestone by successfully producing green hydrogen using heat from a nuclear reactor at Kalpakkam, Tamil Nadu. The hydrogen production facility, developed by the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), uses the Copper-Chlorine thermochemical process powered by heat from the Fast Breeder Test Reactor (FBTR). This allows clean hydrogen to be produced without carbon emissions while also generating electricity. Scientists say the breakthrough strengthens India's clean energy ambitions and supports its Net Zero 2070 target. The State Bank of India (SBI) had reportedly recommended removing staff responsible for counting donations at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya nearly three months before the alleged theft was uncovered, sources said. However, some temple trust officials allegedly intervened, allowing the staff to continue. Police have arrested eight people in connection with the donation theft and are investigating the alleged involvement of two SBI employees who supervised the counting process. Statements of key trust members have been recorded as the probe continues. The temple trust is expected to introduce stricter recruitment rules, including police verification and performance reviews for future appointments.

The dispute between the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Class 12 student Vedant Shrivastava has intensified over his re-evaluation results. CBSE said Vedant's total marks increased by 11 after re-evaluation, including a nine-mark rise in Physics. However, Vedant rejected the claim, saying his revised marksheet shows no increase in his Physics score and only minor changes in other subjects. The controversy follows an earlier row over an incorrect Physics answer sheet allegedly uploaded by the board.
