Police said they violated peace bonds and could disturb public order. Their associate, Ajinkya Shinde, was allowed to leave after signing a peace bond. Delhi Police registered a case against the 3 over trespassing, violating prohibitory orders and obstructing public servants. At least 11 people, all reportedly minors, died after an overcrowded boat carrying around 15–20 passengers capsized in the Ganga River near Raghopur in Bihar’s Vaishali district on October 13, 2026. The passengers were travelling to attend a post-funeral feast when the accident occurred amid strong river currents and rising water levels. Seven people were rescued, while search operations continued for missing passengers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday described India as a reliable global growth partner, saying reforms were driven by “conviction”, not “compulsion”, amid worldwide conflicts and uncertainty. Addressing the Bloomberg New Economy Forum 2026 in New Delhi, he said India’s economy grew 7.8% in April-June and offered stability when global trust was under pressure. The IMF raised India’s 2026-27 growth forecast to 7%, while the RBI projected 7.1%. Modi cited GST, insolvency reforms, four labour codes replacing 29 laws, and decriminalisation of minor business offences. He warned that supply chains, energy, minerals, payment systems and technology were increasingly becoming instruments of geopolitical pressure and dominance.

A reshuffle of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Cabinet is expected before Diwali, with at least six ministerial positions likely to become vacant, government sources told CNN-News18. Union Minister L Murugan resigned on Tuesday, saying he wanted to work for the BJP in Tamil Nadu. Ravneet Singh Bittu and George Kurian had also resigned after their Rajya Sabha terms ended. The BJP did not renominate Hardeep Singh Puri and B.L. Verma to the Rajya Sabha. Harsh Malhotra’s appointment as Delhi BJP chief may also lead to his exit from the Union Cabinet. No reshuffle has taken place in two-and-a-half years.  

A woman allegedly tried to attack former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee outside her Kalighat residence in Kolkata on Tuesday. According to Trinamool Congress leaders, the woman rushed towards Banerjee as she left to inaugurate a Durga Puja pandal. Party workers caught her and reportedly found a knife in her possession. They later handed her over to Kalighat police. The alleged incident raised concerns over Banerjee’s security. Meanwhile, TMC workers staged a protest in Rajabazar, demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation over the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
