Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke accused Delhi Police of illegally detaining party leaders and called them “kidnappers of Shah”. He alleged that the police were acting at the direction of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The remarks came amid protests in Delhi over voting rights and the removal of Jantar Mantar’s status as a designated protest site. Meanwhile, INDIA bloc leaders met at Rahul Gandhi’s residence on Tuesday and decided to await the Supreme Court’s response to their petition before planning another major march. Dipke’s claims about the detention could not be independently verified.  

Anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota was shot dead by a medical shop owner in Mansa, Punjab, on Tuesday. Jhota was confronting the shopkeeper over the alleged sale of addictive drugs. The argument was recorded during a live session on Facebook. The shop owner allegedly opened fire after a heated exchange. He is currently on the run. Jhota had campaigned against drug abuse and illegal drug sales for several years. His killing triggered criticism from Opposition leaders, who questioned the Punjab government's law and order situation and its anti-drug campaign, ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’.  

Delhi Police has secured the removal of 100 social media accounts for allegedly sharing inflammatory posts, fake news and misleading videos during protests against the Election Commission’s voter roll revision exercise. The action comes amid continued demonstrations demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation. More than 200 protesters were detained in Delhi during the second day of Cockroach Janta Party protests. Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi hosted INDIA bloc leaders, civil society members and student groups at his residence to discuss the movement. Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leader Vijay Reddy on Tuesday gave Delhi Police 24 hours to respond to the party’s demand to restore Jantar Mantar as a designated protest site. He warned of fresh demonstrations and a nationwide mobilisation if the demand was not met.   Reddy said the party had submitted a formal letter at Parliament Street Police Station, seeking permission for peaceful protests, including under the 10-day advance notice rule. Meanwhile, CJP leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were detained again while attempting to enter Jantar Mantar. Ranka had posted a video showing the group entering the restricted site. (PC: X)

India attracted $351 billion in greenfield foreign direct investment (FDI) between 2021 and 2025, more than double China's $159 billion, according to Boston Consulting Group (BCG) data.   India's investment rose 61% from $222 billion in the previous five-year period, while China's inflows fell 54% from $350 billion.   Experts say global companies are increasingly looking beyond China to diversify their supply chains, making India an attractive investment destination.   BCG's Nikolaus Lang said India must continue improving infrastructure, workforce skills and cost competitiveness to strengthen its manufacturing sector.   The figures highlight India's growing position in global investment and manufacturing. IndiGo has cancelled all flights to and from Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Madinah until October 17 due to the evolving situation in Saudi Arabia.   In an advisory on Tuesday, the airline urged passengers to check their flight status on its website before leaving for the airport. IndiGo said it was sharing updates through the contact details provided during booking and that its support teams remained available to assist passengers.   The cancellations come after Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport suspended operations following security concerns linked to attacks claimed by Yemen’s Houthi group. The poorest 10% of people in some wealthy countries have higher daily income or consumption levels than India’s richest 10%, according to the World Bank’s 2026 Poverty and Inequality Platform.   The data puts India’s poorest 10% at around $3 per person daily, compared with $25 in the US, $31 in Canada and $28 in Germany and Australia. India’s richest 10% have a threshold of about $10 daily.   Experts say India must raise incomes and productivity across the population. Reforms supporting businesses, innovation, job creation and higher wages could help improve living standards and drive long-term economic growth. (PC: NDTV)

The Delhi Police’s decision to remove Jantar Mantar as a designated protest site has triggered criticism from opposition leaders and the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), who allege the move could push demonstrations away from the seat of power.   The authorities have proposed Ramlila Maidan, Burari Ground and CBD Ground as alternative venues. However, opposition leaders argue that these locations are farther from Parliament and may reduce protests’ visibility.   Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav accused the BJP of trying to shield itself from public anger. Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke questioned the detention of party leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on Tuesday, asking whether waving the national flag had become illegal.   According to PTI, Dipke said a team led by Ranka, Das and Ajinkya Shinde had reached the protest site and waved the Tricolour. He questioned the police action and demanded strict action over the detentions.   Police detained Das and Ranka after they climbed over a gate and attempted to enter Jantar Mantar, which has been denotified as a protest site. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has raised India’s economic growth forecast for FY27 to 7%, up from 6.4%, citing strong domestic demand and services activity. In its October World Economic Outlook, the IMF also increased its FY28 growth projection to 7% from 6.7%. The revision follows India’s stronger-than-expected economic performance, with GDP growing 7.8% year-on-year in the first quarter of FY27. However, rising crude oil prices and geopolitical tensions pose risks. The IMF expects India’s inflation to average 5% in FY27, while global economic growth is projected at 3.1% in 2026. (PC: News18)
