The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that candidates affected by a technical glitch during the CUET-UG 2026 examination will be given another opportunity to appear for the test. The Indian government has directed oil marketing companies to maintain at least 30 days of LPG reserves as tensions rise in the Middle East and fears grow over a possible blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. Petroleum Ministry Joint Secretary Sujata Sharma said India currently has sufficient stocks of petrol, diesel, and LPG to meet domestic demand. Refineries across the country are operating at optimum capacity, while LPG production has reached an all-time high. The Indian Air Force will help transport question papers for the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination on June 21, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said. The move aims to strengthen security and prevent paper leaks.   Pradhan said the government is working with several departments, including the Home Ministry, postal services and state governments, to ensure a fair examination process. He added that the Air Force's support will help deliver question papers safely and on time, especially during the monsoon season.   The decision comes after the May 3 NEET-UG exam was cancelled following a paper leak controversy.

Sikkim has been declared a fully literate state under the ULLAS programme. The announcement was made during the convocation ceremony of Sikkim University in Gangtok. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday arrested Giribala Singh, mother-in-law of 33-year-old Twisha Sharma, who was found dead at her marital home in Bhopal on May 12. The arrest followed the Madhya Pradesh High Court’s decision to cancel the anticipatory bail earlier granted to Singh, a retired district court judge, in connection with the case. A three-member CBI team reached her residence around 10:30 am and questioned her during the ongoing investigation before taking her into custody. Sources indicated that the agency also conducted searches linked to the probe. Singh is expected to be produced before a court on Friday as the investigation into Twisha Sharma’s death continues to intensify.

Retired judge Giribala Singh was arrested by the CBI in connection with the death of her daughter-in-law, Twisha Sharma, in Bhopal after the Madhya Pradesh High Court quashed her anticipatory bail. Twisha, a 32-year-old actor-model, was found dead at her marital home on May 12, triggering allegations of dowry harassment and cruelty against her husband Samarth Singh and mother-in-law. The court cited serious allegations, non-cooperation with investigators, and evidence concerns while cancelling the bail.
