An 18-year-old NEET aspirant, Bhagyashree, allegedly died by suicide in Karnataka’s Kalaburagi district, police said on Sunday. The student had scored 92 per cent in the Pre-University Course (PUC) examinations and had appeared for the NEET-UG 2026 exam on May 2. According to police officials, she was found hanging from a ceiling fan at her apartment. No suicide note has been recovered so far. Police inspected the spot and launched an investigation. The incident comes days after several reported student suicides linked to stress following the cancellation of NEET-UG 2026 over alleged paper leak and examination irregularities affecting over 22 lakh candidates. The body of former model-turned-actor Twisha Sharma was handed over to her family on Sunday after a second autopsy ordered by the Madhya Pradesh High Court and conducted by a team from AIIMS Delhi in Bhopal. Twisha was found hanging at her matrimonial home on May 12. Her family has alleged dowry harassment and questioned findings of the first postmortem. Police have arrested her husband Samarth Singh, while her mother-in-law Giribala Singh has also been named in the FIR. Twisha’s last rites were performed at Bhadbhada Vishram Ghat. (PC: India Today)

The Central government has ordered the iconic Delhi Gymkhana Club to vacate its 27.3-acre Safdarjung Road premises in New Delhi by June 5, citing the need for defence infrastructure and national security projects. At least 16 people have died from heatstroke across seven districts in Telangana as severe heatwave conditions continue to grip the state. Villagers in Uttar Pradesh’s Shankargarh block are facing a serious water shortage during the ongoing heatwave. Many people are walking nearly 10 kilometres every day to collect drinking water. Residents say there is no proper water supply and no electricity in the area. Around 150 people in one village are struggling in extreme heat. Temperatures in the region have crossed 40 degrees Celsius. Officials said they have ordered a review of the situation and asked local teams to send water tankers if needed. Authorities have also shared heatwave advisories and arranged cooling centres in some areas of the district.
