Petrol and diesel prices were increased again across India on Saturday, marking the third fuel price hike in 10 days. State-run oil companies raised petrol prices by 87 paise per litre and diesel by 91 paise per litre. In Delhi, petrol now costs Rs 99.51 per litre while diesel is priced at Rs 92.49. Fuel rates also increased in Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Gurugram and Noida. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas earlier assured citizens that fuel supplies remain stable and advised against panic buying. Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport has intensified health surveillance amid global concerns over the Ebola outbreak in parts of Africa. Authorities introduced thermal screening, barricaded monitoring zones, and mandatory health checks for passengers arriving from or transiting through high-risk nations including Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan. Travelers showing symptoms such as fever, fatigue, vomiting, or unexplained bleeding have been instructed to report immediately to airport health officials. The move follows the World Health Organization’s declaration of the outbreak as a global health emergency. In a major development in the death case of 33-year-old actor-model Twisha Sharma, her husband Samarth Singh was arrested after remaining missing for 10 days following her death in Bhopal. Singh appeared before a Jabalpur court to surrender but was directed to present himself in Bhopal, where police took him into custody. Twisha was found hanging at her matrimonial home on May 12, sparking allegations of dowry harassment and emotional abuse by her family against Singh and his mother, retired judge Giribala Singh. Amid public outrage, the Madhya Pradesh government has recommended a CBI probe, while the High Court ordered a second post-mortem by AIIMS Delhi.

After remaining untraceable for 10 days following the death of 33-year-old Noida woman Twisha Sharma, her husband Samarth Singh dramatically appeared at a Jabalpur court before being taken into custody amid chaotic scenes. Journalists surrounded him inside court premises, shouting questions as he tried to move through crowds wearing a cap, mask and sunglasses. Twisha, who was pregnant, was found hanging at her matrimonial home in Bhopal on May 12, while her family alleged dowry harassment. Samarth’s family claimed she struggled with drug addiction. The Madhya Pradesh High Court later ordered a second post-mortem by AIIMS Delhi doctors. Investigations against Samarth and his mother Giribala Singh are continuing under multiple legal provisions.

The CBI has arrested the 11th accused in the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak investigation, identifying the suspect as the alleged source behind the leaked Physics paper. The accused, Manisha Sanjay Havaldar from Pune, was reportedly linked to confidential exam processes and is believed to have played a key role in circulating questions before the medical entrance examination. Investigators say the probe has uncovered a wider network involving teachers, coaching facilitators, and intermediaries. The West Bengal government, led by Suvendu Adhikari, has directed police and the Railway Protection Force to hand over detained illegal Bangladeshi migrants directly to the Border Security Force instead of producing them before courts. The move is part of the state’s new “Detect, Delete, Deport” policy targeting undocumented infiltration. Officials said migrants not covered under the Citizenship Amendment Act would face immediate deportation procedures through BSF border outposts. The Madhya Pradesh High Court has ordered a second post-mortem examination in the death case of Twisha Sharma, directing that a team of doctors from AIIMS Delhi conduct the procedure in Bhopal. The court accepted a plea filed by Sharma’s father, who alleged inconsistencies and lapses in the initial investigation and autopsy. Twisha, 31, was found dead at her matrimonial home earlier this month, with her family accusing her husband and in-laws of dowry harassment and torture. The High Court also stressed the need for transparency in the investigation as public attention around the case continues to grow. 

The Delhi High Court has granted former JNU student leader Umar Khalid a three-day interim bail in connection with the 2020 Delhi riots conspiracy case under the UAPA. The relief was provided on humanitarian grounds to allow him to be with his mother during her surgery. Khalid had earlier sought 15 days’ interim bail, but a lower court rejected the plea. The bail will remain effective from June 1 to June 3. Khalid has been in judicial custody for several years over allegations linked to the larger conspiracy behind the northeast Delhi riots of 2020. A jhalmuri vendor in West Bengal’s Jhargram has alleged that he received death threats after Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited his stall during an election campaign. The vendor, Vikram Sau, said he started receiving threatening calls and messages after the election results were announced. Sau claimed the first call came on May 19. He said the threats left him scared and disturbed. Locals said he has stopped sitting regularly at his stall. West Bengal Police have started an investigation into the matter. Officials are checking the phone number and messages linked to the alleged threats.
