The CBI has filed an FIR following the cancellation of the UGC-NET 2024 exam due to alleged paper leaks on the Darknet, announced by the Union Education Ministry. Minister Dharmendra Pradhan cited compromised integrity as grounds for cancellation, affecting 11 lakh students. A high-level probe into the matter and the National Testing Agency's (NTA) operations is underway, amid widespread student protests demanding accountability.

The Ministry of Education's abrupt cancellation of the UGC-NET exam has left thousands of aspirants in dismay. Scheduled as a pen-and-paper test by the NTA, the decision came amidst fears of integrity compromise. Aspirants across India, from Delhi to Pune, had prepared rigorously, only to face uncertainty about their future in academia and research. Many, like Abhishek Mishra and Sooraj Elamon, voiced concerns over the lack of clarity and its impact on their careers and mental health. Calls for a transparent investigation and clear communication from NTA have intensified as students demand answers about rescheduling and exam fees.

A NEET-UG candidate, his uncle, and two middlemen have been arrested in Bihar for leaking the NEET-UG 2024 question paper. Confessions reveal that the paper was leaked on the exam eve and sold for Rs 30-40 lakh per candidate. Middlemen Nitish Kumar and Amit Anand allegedly provided the paper through Sikandar P. Yadavendu, whose nephew was among the four boys who memorized the answers before the May 5 exam. Arrests were made following a vehicle check on the exam day, and the Supreme Court is now involved in the ongoing investigation.

The Indian rupee weakened to a record low of 83.48 against the US dollar due to a strong American currency and increasing global crude oil prices. At the interbank market, the rupee opened at 83.43 before sliding further. Forex experts attributed the decline to subdued domestic equity markets despite continued foreign capital inflows. Anand James from Geojit Financial Services noted the rupee's momentum was halted by external factors, including the dollar index rising marginally. Meanwhile, in local markets, the BSE Sensex dropped 72.43 points, while the NSE Nifty fell by 30.25 points amidst mixed investor sentiment.

Four men in Bihar, including NEET aspirant Anurag Yadav, confessed to receiving the NEET-UG 2024 exam paper the night before the test. Yadav memorized the answers and found the same questions in the exam. His uncle, Sikandar, and two others, Nitish Kumar and Amit Anand, were involved in the leak. They charged up to Rs 40 lakh per student for leaked papers. Nearly 24 lakh students took the exam on May 5. Allegations of leaks and grace marks sparked nationwide protests. The Education Minister denied the claims, while the Supreme Court demanded fair treatment for all candidates.

The Allahabad High Court dismissed Ayushi Patel’s petition about her NEET 2024 result, finding she used fake documents. Patel claimed her OMR sheet was torn, affecting her result. The National Testing Agency (NTA) showed the court the original, undamaged OMR sheet. The court ruled the NTA can take legal action against Patel. Patel’s viral video alleging irregularities was shared by Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala accused Gandhi of spreading falsehoods and demanded an apology.

The UGC-NET June 2024 exam was canceled due to paper leaks, causing an uproar. Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra slammed the government, dubbing it the "paper leak government." They demanded accountability from the Education Minister and called for the NEET exam's cancellation. Opposition parties, including the Samajwadi Party and Shiv Sena, criticized the government for recurring exam issues. The Education Ministry has referred the case to the CBI for a detailed investigation. Concerns about the integrity of national exams continue to grow.

Anurag Yadav, a NEET candidate, has confessed that the leaked exam paper he received matched the actual NEET exam paper. Yadav's uncle, Sikandar Prasad Yadavendu, allegedly provided him with the leaked paper and answers. India Today accessed Yadav’s signed confession letter. This revelation has led to the Union Education Ministry seeking a report from Bihar Police’s Economic Offences Unit. The NEET UG exam, held on May 5, faced allegations of irregularities, prompting nationwide protests. Authorities are committed to maintaining exam integrity and ensuring severe consequences for those involved in the scam.
