A Delhi court on Monday acquitted former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh in the sexual harassment case filed by 6 women wrestlers. Independent Purnea MP Pappu Yadav alleged there was a “plot to kill” him after a man reportedly hurled a shoe during a press conference at his Delhi residence on Sunday. According to initial information, the attacker interrupted the briefing and threw the shoe, triggering a scuffle between Yadav’s supporters and the accused. Supporters overpowered the man and handed him over to the police. Sources identified the accused as Sumit, a resident of Bulandshahr, who was reportedly detained on the spot. The incident was reportedly linked to Yadav’s Parliament skit on the alleged theft of Ram Temple donations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the 'Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan', calling for a nationwide movement against drug abuse and stressing that a drug-free youth population is essential to achieving the goal of a developed India. Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) is overhauling its crude procurement strategy amid supply disruptions in the Middle East caused by the US-Iran war and shipping challenges through the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea. IOC has significantly increased its reliance on spot purchases, with their share rising from 50% to nearly 84%, according to Director (Finance) Anuj Jain. He said the company is closely monitoring developments daily to optimise crude sourcing in an increasingly volatile market. IOC continues to depend heavily on spot purchases of Russian crude while also boosting imports from West African and Latin American producers to diversify supplies and strengthen energy security amid geopolitical uncertainty. Heavy rainfall continued to batter Kerala, leaving 8 people dead, 8 missing and 13 injured as floods and landslides caused widespread destruction across the state. Chief Minister V D Satheesan said 27 houses were completely destroyed and 196 were partially damaged. Authorities evacuated 5,792 people to 209 relief camps as swollen rivers, flooded roads and overflowing dams disrupted normal life. Some areas received up to 320 mm of rainfall, with Kannur recording the highest. The death toll in the Kulgam terror attack has risen to 2 after Bhupendra Bhaina (28), a migrant labourer from Chhattisgarh, succumbed to bullet injuries on Saturday. The attack took place on Friday when terrorists opened fire on 2 brick kiln workers in Kelam village. Deepak Ratre (24) was killed on the spot, while Bhaina later died during treatment. Both had travelled to Jammu and Kashmir this year for work. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha ordered intensified anti-terror operations and stronger security for migrant workers.
