Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in New Delhi on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit. Malaysia is participating as a BRICS partner country, while India is hosting the summit under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.” The talks focused on strengthening India-Malaysia relations and expanding cooperation in areas including trade, investment, digital technology and education. The meeting also comes as both countries seek greater engagement with the Global South. Malaysia has identified India as its largest trading partner in South Asia, with bilateral trade reaching about $18.55 billion in 2025.
