A Delhi court judge, Aman Kumar Sharma, was found dead at his residence in the Safdarjung area on May 2, 2026, in a suspected case of suicide. Police said the 30–35-year-old judicial officer was discovered hanging inside his home, reportedly in a locked bathroom. A PCR call alerted authorities, following which police and forensic teams reached the scene and began an investigation. Initial findings suggest no foul play, though the exact cause and circumstances remain unclear. Sharma was posted with the District Legal Services Authority at Karkardooma Court. The incident has shocked the legal fraternity, raising concerns over stress in the judiciary. 

Air India will reduce several international flights between May and July due to high fuel costs and airspace limits. CEO Campbell Wilson said many routes have become unprofitable. “A massive rise in jet fuel prices and longer flying routes have caused many flights to become unprofitable,” he told staff. Airspace restrictions linked to the West Asia conflict have forced longer routes and higher fuel use. The airline will cut services to Europe, North America, Australia, and Singapore. “The situation remains extremely challenging,” Wilson said, adding that fare hikes have also reduced demand. Preliminary tests by the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) found no adulteration in the watermelon eaten by a Mumbai family before their deaths. Other food samples also tested clean. Officials said the cause of death is still unknown. Police are waiting for the Kalina forensic lab report to confirm whether it was food poisoning or a toxic substance. “Only the FSL report will establish the cause,” an official said. A new video from the boat tragedy at Bargi Dam shows panic as water rushed into the vessel. Passengers were seen without life jackets as the boat began to sink. Life jackets were reportedly kept sealed and opened only after the crisis began. The boat was carrying over 40 people despite fewer tickets. It sailed despite an orange weather alert. So far, nine bodies have been found and four people are missing. The state has ordered an inquiry and suspended services.

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has approached the Supreme Court challenging the Election Commission’s directive mandating central government or PSU staff as counting supervisors for the West Bengal Assembly election results. The move comes after the Calcutta High Court dismissed TMC’s plea against the order.
