Delhi Police have registered a case against digital media platform NewsClick under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) amid allegations of funding from China. Police searched homes of NewsClick journalists, seizing laptops and phones, based on inputs from the central agency. The case stemmed from The New York Times' claim that NewsClick received funds from a network tied to US millionaire Neville Roy Singham for Chinese propaganda. Enforcement Directorate previously probed NewsClick's funding, revealing over ₹77 crore in foreign remittances between 2018-2021. NewsClick founder Prabir Purkayastha denied allegations, emphasizing independence from political influence.
