Wikileaks Founder Julian Assange Freed After Reaching Deal with US Authorities

After a years-long legal battle, Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has been released from a UK prison and has left the country. Assange, 52, reached a deal with US authorities to plead guilty to criminal charges related to disclosing national defense information. He will spend no time in US custody and receive credit for his time served in the UK. Assange was charged with conspiracy to obtain and disclose classified information related to the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. He will return to Australia, according to a justice department letter. Assange spent 1,901 days in a small cell at Belmarsh prison before his release.
