Over 500 Arrested in Dhaka: Violent Protests Against Job Quotas Lead to Police Deaths and Injuries

More than 500 individuals, including prominent opposition leaders, have been detained in Dhaka following violent protests against job quotas. Dhaka Metropolitan Police spokesperson Faruk Hossain confirmed the arrests, which include BNP leaders Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury and Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed. The unrest has resulted in the deaths of three policemen and injuries to around 1,000 people, with 60 critically wounded. Nationwide, hundreds of BNP leaders and activists have also been apprehended.
