The UK will fast-track the asylum applications and returns of illegal migrants from countries on its safe states list, including India, under new Labour government proposals. Home Secretary Yvette Cooper announced plans to move staff from the defunct Rwanda scheme to a new Returns and Enforcement programme, focusing on deporting migrants to their countries of origin. This initiative aims to enhance the enforcement of immigration laws, starting with increased raids on businesses employing illegal workers. India, added to the UK's Safe States list last November, will see expedited returns of its nationals entering the UK illegally.
