Ukraine has received its first F-16 fighter jets, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced at a ceremony at an undisclosed airbase. This marks a significant enhancement to Ukraine's air force, which has largely relied on older Soviet-era aircraft. Zelensky thanked allies, including Denmark, the Netherlands, and the US, for their support, while noting the need for more jets and trained pilots. The F-16s are expected to enhance Ukraine's defensive and offensive capabilities, potentially deterring Russian attacks and providing critical air support to ground forces. Around 65 F-16s have been pledged by NATO countries since August 2023.
